Apocalypse Now - the smell of napalm
06/03/08, 04:26

I used to have a fanmade soundtrack of the movie, a lot of the music, all of Sheen's voiceovers and some of the better dialogue. It stood well on its own. Just the audio is still better than most full movies.
The Last Days Of Dr. Wily
06/02/08, 18:52

That's the tough thing about editing. Nobody likes to put in 2 days work and get told "OK you've got 30 good seconds here".
Venture Bros - Brock Samson
06/02/08, 18:45

I am sad that they've pulled down all of the "Best of Brock" clips. The only thing better than one is 6-7 in a row. They don't get old.
Bullitt Car Chase Scene

No man there were a LOT of green VW Beetles back in the 70s. They were everyshere.
RoboJew vs. Giant Nazi Woman of the SS
05/31/08, 03:43

But it's about the most halfassed attempt to use Nazis and Jews as humor since I made a list of Death Camp jokes in 6th grade in 1983.

It's not funny. Not because it's tasteless, but because it is devoid of funny.
Aqua - Cartoon Heroes
05/31/08, 01:23

This is good if you watch the SA "Second Life Safari" with it as the soundtrack. As a song about SL griefers, it's very good. I doubt it has any merit outside of that context, so to me, it's all about griefing in Second Life.

Random half-assed enonsense and edge substituting for comedy = Tim and Eric in my book.

I haven't watched much of them, but there has never been a time were I watched them and could not write better jokes and skits in my head, live. You can write funnier than this, as it happens. I just kinda identify that brand of failure with them.

Am I Being Detained?
05/31/08, 01:00

He wasn't just ambling through a border checkpoint, he was asking.. BEGGING to be martyred. He wanted to be a Hero so bad, he came off like an agitprop jackass. Nice "camera noises" to make it all seem so casual.

He could have talked about the laws and project and who voted for it, but instead begged to get tasered. Reminds me of the kinda dick who gets into fights with a gas station attendant over the price of gas.

It's not that chick's FAULT. Being a massive prick to cops is not a constructive way to protest unjust govt. programs, it just makes you feel like Mr Turner Diary hero. And in the end, he begged to be abused as hard as he could, but they let him go. Whatever cause he's championing, he came off like an utter fuckolio.

Holy Crap.. my dad helped manufacture a part for the lunar rover. Some axle part, they had 5 different tool & die makers make 5 of them to exacting standards.

Dad was scared shitless when they took it out for a spin, as there was a slim but real chance that it could bust an axle and you'd have dead astronauts, and history would say "It was the fault of that one asshole who made the axle". He never knew if it was HIS part on the rover, but he could not relax until they got done using it and blasted off, because if that part busted.. well..

Not much point, but thats about his best story from his career as a tool & die maker.
City Kids

Eh.. the Motörhead version (ascii code 148 for it) would hardly please you more, since Lemmy's bass sounds like rhythm guitar.

Is that a complaint about this song or glam rock in general? Because glam rock is not lacking killer bass.. maybe the problem is that it was generally the early 70s, so shitty sound quality hurts your "solid spectrum" enjoyment. You gotta fuck with the EQ on old songs.

Listen to Lou Reed's "Rock'n'Roll Animal".. that is some of the most awesome wild anus-clenching bass performance ever. 1970s production values, but holy everloving christ could Prakash John pluck the 4 strings. Your asshole will tighten up like an anchor knot, he plays'em faster than you can think'em.

Also, singing was not in his job description. He's supposed to make goofy faces and hit things hard, not fuckin sing. Se also: Pete Towndesend just totally fucking around for a laff

Do you get the concept of musicians fucking around for the hell of it? Have you ever been in a garage band?
Home Movies - Spaghetti Time

I gotta say, this has grown on me. I wish I'd given it that extra star. It's short and sweet.
A Boy Named Sue (Live at San Quentin '69)
05/31/08, 00:04

He failed to put it into context.. but if we got into some "Post good Johnny Cash" them he'd become overused and cliched.

You don't need to excuse submitting Johnny Cash, just deliver a nice nugget every month or so and he never gets old.

I, personally, hope that they use a song of his for Fallout 3. Oh holy shit there is no lack of perfect ones.
You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)
05/30/08, 23:42

People may say they don't like the Beatles or know any Beatles songs, but it takes very little effort to show them that they actually have deep feelings about 10-20 Beatles songs at the very very least.

I had a girl insist that she didn't know any "Beatles shit". I walked her through some songs and I stopped counting by the 15th song she deeply appreciated. "Oh that was them? I love that song."
You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)
05/30/08, 23:38

No, "Obla-di Obla-da" which was written by John fucking Lennon. He meant it as a parody of Paul, but later he said it was his greatest regret in life.

And then one day, as he lies on the floor, bleeding heavily, his last flickering thought is "Oh God why did I write THAT song?"
Walk Like a Man

I have no quip or back story for this. It's goddamn Divine, and hey it's a surprisingly catchy song too.
Divine (Eurovision performance)

Now that's some competition.
Divine (Eurovision performance)

This was not Divine. I cannot rate this, being a mere Yank.. but if a clip is titled "Divine", I expect at least one amazing fat American drag queen. Is that too much too ask?
