Plutonium Nyborg
09/24/12, 21:43 The first time I saw this movie, I noticed how they screwed up the editing. It shows the John Candy robot and the Annie Potts secretary disembarking the ship and going into the giant space station BEFORE the Harold Ramis alien crashed into it.
I guess someone felt the "good landing" joke was better to go out on. |

Don't film a yoga video with lions in it.
09/23/12, 11:55 I love how the lion looks over at the camera right before pouncing like "Hey, y'all, watch this!" |

Sarah Silverman on Voter ID Laws
09/22/12, 21:58 @ Callamon:
My family had to move around a lot while my dad looked for work. No sooner would we get settled in than the company he'd found a job with would "downsize" and he'd have to go hunting again.
Mom tried to keep track of our important papers & documents, but it was difficult. |

Daily Show - Chaos on Bullshit Mountain
09/22/12, 21:50 Is the GOP ideal for America, and indeed the world, a cuthroat dog-eat-dog jungle where the plebes fight each other tooth & nail for mere survival while the wealthy elite sneer down at them for their animalistic behavior? |

Sarah Silverman on Voter ID Laws
09/22/12, 14:17 This year, I had to renew my driver's license under tough new laws designed to crack down on the nefarious illegal Mexicans sneaking in and driving around all willy-nilly.
I needed a birth certificate. My original may be gone forever. It could be buried in my parents' storage unit or possibly they left it with one of my grandparents' for safekeeping but there's no telling where it is in that case. I had to pay over $100 for a new copy as well as provide a whole bunch of paperwork and other proof of identity to get it.
In addition to the birth certificate, I had to produce all sorts of proof of residence which involved having friends & family to vouch for me and got their names on the record, too.
And then there was going to two different government agencies during their hours of operation, i.e. the same hours most people are working at their own jobs. I am lucky enough to have a job that allows me to take time off for such matters. Most people aren't that lucky. Then there's the fee I had to pay for the license, itself.
It was a major investment of time and money. People shouldn't have to jump through those sorts of hoops to exercise an inalienable right.
Fraud at the polls is a bullshit argument. To pull it off, you would need THOUSANDS of people voting fraudulently multiple times at multiple polling places. Voter ID laws are about suppressing certain demographics. |

Rebecca (Full Film)
09/22/12, 11:14 Probably one of the first "grown up" movies I ever watched all the way through as a kid.
It came on the Sunday "matinee" on the UHF station where they usually showed sci-fi or horror movies.
I kept expecting a ghost, but enjoyed the movie even though one never showed up. |

IS THIS IMPACTED WAX?
09/20/12, 23:13 One hot summer night years ago, one of the myriad tiny moths fluttering around our porch light flew right into my ear.
I ran inside going slightly insane and blasted it out of there with the spray nozzle in the kitchen sink. Then I flushed my ear with an alcohol/water/vinegar mix.
I literally had nightmares for months. I would wake bolt upright and swear I could feel that damned thing fluttering around in there. It took going to the doctor and having him look in my ear with the otoscope to assuage my fears. |
