Yeah, that part at the beginning of the movie where the female redshirt gets sucked out of the ship's hull after it gets torpedoed. The camera follows her out and everything just goes silent as she floats off into space, still frantically trying in vain to grab on to something.
That gives me chills every time I think of it. Too bad the rest of the movie was kind of shit. |

I can't even begin to imagine what the mother went through for the last two years of her life; not knowing whether her daughter was alive or dead, whether she doesn't want to come home or she is being held against her will.

All things considered, the portrait mode captured the smoke plume pretty well.
But in all serious, seeing those emergency vehicles, then not seeing them after the explosion made me :(, especially in light of the news reports saying that almost every firefighter and EMT who was on the scene was killed. |

I would imagine experiencing this event in reverse would have been pretty frightening-- you're at home, suddenly you hear a huge explosion and a bunch of smaller ones, and feel your home shake, then you run outside and see this enormous trail of smoke in the sky. |

I see guns the same way I see cars. Ideally, we shouldn't let just any dipshit have access to them, but we do so anyway.
As a result, the US has among highest firearm and vehicle death rates in the First World.
Gun nuts love to cite places like Switzerland where personal gun ownership is high, yet gun-related crimes are low. What these people fail to realize is that gun regulations are very strict in Switzerland. Even though gun ownership is compulsory for military-age males, you have to go through so many loops, so many safety training courses, before you can finally get your hands on one (then there's a required safety training course every year after that).
Switzerland is like Valhalla to American gun-lovers, but they would shit their pants if they had to go through even half of the red tape that the Swiss have to. |
