I like how the filmmakers couldn't resist taking this thoughtful, well-crafted movie and shit all over it in the end like it was a Pink Panther movie and put in LOL OUTTAKES.
A lot of people including Sellers' own family believe these credits was why he didn't get the Best Actor award. |

Oh man, i saw this live at a cafe I was in, and the followup was great. About 5 minutes later, Fox went away from live coverage of it and the hosts started talking about "wow, that one guy was great!! So passionate!" and, I shit you not, the male host (dunno his name) says:
"Let's see if we can find out who that guy was and get him a microphone down there so we can see how angry he is!"
I cracked up so bad at that. |

In the last few weeks his campaign is skirting very close to the line of outright racism. In at least one verified instance, a campaign head in one state wrote a column in a newspaper about how whites would be "in trouble" if Obama were elected, and the campaign has yet to comment on the issue or take any form of action against the person. Additionally, the rhetoric is ramping up in a way so as to take advantage of racist sentiment without overtly supporting it or appearing to be friendly to it, although that too is eroding a bit.
The heavy push to replace most of the "elitist" memes with new ones dealing with Obama "not being one of us" and "not understanding the way *we* think" is clearly an underhanded pandering to prejudiced sentiment.
Also, the McCain campaign has done nothing to either condemn or distance itself from the radically racist commentary of most right-wing, neo-con media figures, mostly in radio and in blogs.
There's no question, certainly not now, that McCain is openly courting and using racism as a method of campaigning in a way that gives them plausible deniability . |
