Karma at the Poker Table
09/04/13, 15:14

It's because of how popular and standard Hold 'Em is now. if you go to a casino that has tables or rooms specifically devoted to plain vanilla poker (it's all in the hands, no cards on the table) you'll see a much different mood.

Oh geez..I totally forgot to mention the best part. Cox sued Universal to make sure his name stayed on the credits (even though it probably would have stayed anyway) and that he should get a "Screenwriters fee" even though the movie is based on a fucking book he didn't even write. Gilliam argued that no one should get credit except Thompson (not even Gilliam), but the Writers Guild wouldn't agree. Cox ended up getting his fee and credit anyway. So yeah..Cox actually argued that his script, which is based on a pre-written thing, was so original that it "bore similarities" to the finished product he had nothing to do with.

This is why the "director's cut" (so to speak) of Fear and Loathing has the intro with the PSA about how "no writers were involved in the film."
Trailer For New Spike Jonze Movie - 'Her'
09/04/13, 12:56

I like Spike Jonze, but enough of the hipstery, twee nonsense please.

Also, it's really weird to see Joaquin Phoenix and Amy Adams in a movie together again after The Master.

The film was originally going to be written and directed by Alex Cox, who got the production greenlighted even though his script was shit because the producers were about to lose the option to make the film. Hunter S. Thompson wanted nothing to do with Alex Cox after learning how he intended to direct the film and basically the movie went into development hell. Gilliam came on board after Cox had basically been fired and the film basically almost fell apart because Cox had been such an ass to Thompson who, briefly, had considered no longer participating in anything having to do with the movie because of his negative experience with Cox. Once Gilliam made his own script (which was basically just a very straight interpretation of most of the book) the Screenwriters Guild of America would not allow Cox's name to be taken off the credits even though he had nothing to do with the movie.
It was not an easy film to make. But yes, it turned out very good.

I'm pretty sure Zero Theorem is the first movie Gilliam has made in years where there wasn't some major issue with getting the film made. (dealing Alex Cox's bullshit on Fear and Loathing, final cut and production control was taken away from him on Brothers Grimm, Don Quixote went tits up, Tideland ran out of money for a bit, Heath Ledger died making Imaginarium, Quixote went tits up a second time, etc..)

Unity3D The Living Dead gameplay (zombie game)

I actually thought the concept of Survival Instinct was really cool. The whole thing of being on a journey from point A to Point b that's randomized with random events and characters a long the way that you deal with was, in my opinion, a cool idea. The execution was fucking horrible though.

We laugh, but this is basically how 90% of death metal/nu metal covers probably get made.

I remember when I was a kid, there was a video game called "Vanguard" which was just a pretty normal space-shooter kind of game, but in both the arcades and on the Atari 2600 when you picked up an invincibility power-up, this music played.

That greatly entertained me.

Why Dual Wielding Doesn't Work In Real Life

Everyday carry dipshits routinely think that carrying think that packing two smaller guns for "dual wielding" is better then one decent weapon you're good with.

I think my favorite gun-technique-I-borrowed-from-the-movies thing is firing guns sideways so that the ejected shell goes right in your face! (or crotch)
