The Future of Mod API - Minecon 2012
02/05/13, 10:25

You might think Minecraft is a POS, but it's sold, like, a kajillion copies of every platform it's on. It has a pretty huge, if not massive, audience. Minecon has been around since the game was just mildly popular on PC. Now it's as big as most major comic/game conferences.

Jobs Movie Clip (Steve Jobs Biopic - 2013)
02/04/13, 11:10

OH, hey, what do you know, Kutcher tried to "method act" and did Steve Jobs' retarded fruitarian diet and he wound up in the hospital, who'd a thunk?

I'm sure Jobs contributed some great things to the evolution of the computer and technology, but jesus fuck can we please stop this worship/over mystification of him? Maybe he was brilliant once upon a time, but here's man who, despite his scientific know-how, actually believed in diet and cancer woo bullshit and basically died because instead of getting evidence-based medicine he figured Mexican psychic surgeons and fruit smoothies would cure him.
SACKED! The Wildman Kickstarter Fiasco...HOTFIX
02/04/13, 03:29

I can sort of explain. Gas Powered Games has, for years, been a relatively well respected company who made, once upon a time, some games that are generally well remembered. Like many studios, they've been hurting financially because of over-hiring and spending way too much and resources in developing an MMO that would ultimately fail to the WoW maket (in their case, Demigod).
They started a kickstarter campaign to fund their latest announced game, but as it turns out, the kickstarter was actually an act of desperation to fund the company itself which basically fired 90% of its workforce only a few days after the kickstarter was launched.
Note: this wasn't your average kickstarter where a company was looking for a 5 or 6 digit figure to help fund something...GSP was hoping to raise *millions* of dollars in the span of something like a week. I dunno why it warrants this shitty video, but the story itself is pretty interesting just from the standpoint of how this guy basically assumed the best idea to help the company would be betting everything on some Hail Mary thing on kickstarter.

Rik Mayall as an extremely heterosexual Robin Hood

What was wrong with Season 1? I've always loved it, mainly because I think it was spot-on in it's intended goal which was to satirize the kind of historical dramas that the BBC was farting out by the metric ton in those days. In fact, a few of the actors in season 1 were specifically chosen for the fact they had previously been in teleplays about the War of the Roses.
Quiet Orinda
02/01/13, 10:50

I think leaf blowers suck too, but this is Orinda so, of course, it's just one of a string of dumb, first-world problems that a bunch of privileged cunts turn into this week's OMG THINK OF THE CHILDREN scare. I think it's less about the blowers and more about the Mexicans.

Rik Mayall as an extremely heterosexual Robin Hood

This wasn't THAT bad. Maybe a tad bit overbudgeted, but it's entertaining. I especially liked the gimmick of all the Romans speaking pig latin and Hadrian's Wall only being 2 feet high.
'Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans' (1927) [HD]
01/31/13, 20:46

In fairness to the original submission (which was mine) it was before YT had longer time limits, better quality support, and back when Sunrise was officially no longer available from Warner (though it is back in print now).
Urban Explorers: Into The Darkness (full length movie)

This used to be on Netflix streaming and I watched there a few years back. It's not bad.
Man (isn't) Stabbed after Harassing a 7/11 Store Manager
01/30/13, 14:21

Too bad the 7/11 guy is not white, because now he can't claim he "stood his ground." If anything, the guy he stabbed will probably be Fox News' latest hero for the oppressed masses who must live under the tyranny of the poors and coloreds.
Courtney Love covers Jay-Z's '99 Problems'
01/30/13, 14:01

Courtney Love lured Kurt Cobain away from meaningful rehab with the promises of drugs knowing they would likely kill him because she was aware of his plans to likely divorce her and take custody of their daughter, whose life she then proceeded to fuck up by being a gross junkie whore who managed to burn through millions of dollars and what little goodwill was given to her to the point where now she has been ruled so financially incompetent that her daughter has now been given all of the Cobain estate rights to prevent Love from using them to finance her debt any further.

She murdered her husband for money, but I guess cuz she can slur out a song and finger a guitar that makes her totally different than all the other people who murdered their own spouses for money and custody.
MST3K - The Janitor Song
01/29/13, 23:23

Or maybe he's, you know, making fun of the janitor character in the movie that was in this episode (Teenage Strangler). Just a thought some might want to consider.

A person being into WWE is sort of an indicator of mental illness as far as I'm concerned and I'm glad when someone is very forthcoming about their fandom so I can basically stay away from them.

'Star Trek: Into Darkness' trailer
01/28/13, 22:17

Oh, I wasn't expecting a serious sci-fi drama, just something that slightly eschewed the boring tropes that every based-on-a-comic/tv show/whatever movie seems to be slipping into lately. I mean, Star Trek as a universe is pretty fertile, even if all you want to make is a fast moving action movie. I mean, can't they encounter hostile aliens or something along those lines? Or at least multiple villains? Something like that? So, it just seems unimaginative given the wealth of background universe they have to work with.
