I actually think the "arrow to the knee" thing is great because it's probably the best, textbook example of how Bethesda can have such shitty, shitty ideas for every one of their decent ones in a game.
I mean here we are in the year 2012, and someone in game dev STILL thinks it's ok to give one line of stupid dialogue to EVERY SINGLE FUCKING GUARD IN THE ENTIRE GAME, and have them repeatedly say it on random occasions in different voices. I mean, the meme itself is almost a weird meta-parody on the incredible stupidity of that idea.

CSI: Surveillance Photo Enhancement Absurdity

No, no...the "tops them all" moment of enhancement stupidity comes from CSI Miami, though I can't find the clip on YouTube. There was an episode where the folks wanted to find out where a certain picture of a car was taken. Through "enhance" magic they managed to zoom in on a microscopic reflection in the chrome on the bumper, which then, when enhanced, revealed a perfect shot of the person taking the photo along with some landmarks behind them. Using computer hoodads they manage to create a "3D Model" of the surrounding area using the reflection and then triangulated the location of where the photographer was standing. In addition to this, they also "enhanced" the reflection on the camera lens (as seen in the original reflection) to spot some other person who was standing near by who, just so happened, to be the suspect.

If you want to read reasonably decent CSI-style fiction written in a not-retarded way, check out the Jefferson Bass books. They lean a little towards the "THE CSI GUYS ARE THE ULTIMATE HEROES", but in a less nauseating way than this kind of TV bullshit. |
