Glad to see someone putting example-based image recoloring to use. I'm not sure this is a GOOD use, but it's a use for it, at least.
I hope that if Ted Turner ever gets a "we must colorize all classic movies" hair up his ass again he uses this technology instead of the nascent digital tech he was so enamored with in the 80s (which wasn't really any better than hand tinting in terms of overall quality or labor intensity). |

Emulation is extremely accurate nowadays. Also, these speedruns are often verified on multiple emulators, and the gold standard one appears to be FCEUX which is intended to be as close as you can get to actual hardware, while providing as many "ins" to inspecting the low-level state of the hardware as possible. |

I am guessing that certain aspects of this are scripted or pre-processed, seeing as how the computer seems to know perfectly well how to spell words that are actually very hard to recognize without context. |

I had a mild sinus infection which quickly turned into a fully-fledged upper respiratory infection. The doctor gave me genuine promethazine+codeine syrup (the active ingredient in Purple Drank!) so that I could actually get some sleep at night. I'm feeling better already although I'm still very tired.

I was thinking of submitting this on my recent TAS binge but decided not to. Now I realize that was a mistake.
What I didn't get about this one is how he had the mag-beam powerup at the very beginning (or at least something that behaves like it). Or does JPN Rockman start out with that? |

TASes work by replaying a controller input to the emulator with frame-level precision. Everything done in a TAS could theoretically be done by a hacked controller on a real system. They don't involve any modification to the game logic, just exploits to existing game logic that make assumptions based on how controllers work (and which use input timing for random number genration and so on). |
