Holy fuck, I think this is actually better than "Skeng." I'd been holding off on this album (I love Martin, but the reviews have been fairly muted, I've got a lot of music on my plate as it is, and come on man when is that new KMS album coming out) but oh my god that was WRONG

I didn't mean to tar Murakami with the same brush- I think Lonesome Cowboy is fucking hilarious, honestly, and as far as other Superflat-affiliated artists go, I love Aya Takano's work. It's just that Mr. gives off this whole Uncle Badtouch vibe that, even if it's part of his public persona or whatever, is FUCKING CREEPY.

I haven't watched this yet, but this was co-directed by Mr., one of Takashi Murakami's Superflat stable and creator of some *insanely* creepy pedo-y shit.

Hey, anything that gets this more attention. I haven't had a chance to see it yet because for some goddamn reason there's no theater in Philly that shows Alamo Drafthouse releases, but I might just have to give in and rent it on VOD or something.

Apparently Gainsborough decided to ditch all of his existing hardware and record his second LP with janky-ass homemade instruments he got from a book recommended by Swans' Thor Harris (of "handmade violin thing" fame). There's this, too, which is pretty great:

Yeah, they put a little paper slip with the code inside the sleeve. You can get it from anywhere and still get a download so long as it's a sealed copy.

Not at all true. Horrific transatlantic shipping costs aside, Bleep is pretty great- you can preorder the album in 320kbps mp3, WAV, FLAC or 24-bit WAV which I did not even know was a thing. And every LP that comes out on Warp now includes a download voucher for the mp3 version.

Love this. A small correction though- this is a music video for the band Zombie Zombie's song "Driving This Road Til Death Sets You Free". They also did an EP of John Carpenter covers, including Ennio Morricone's The Thing theme.

I keep meaning to buy "official" mp3s to replace the shitty vinyl rips off Soulseek I've had for ages but the last time I checked, Rephlex's webpage was still down and redirecting to their Discogs listing. Which sucks because they don't sell digital releases through anyone else :(

Analord took a long, looong time to sink in for me (nowhere near the immediate "oh hey he's back" impact of the Tuss releases) but there are absolutely some tunes there. Try "Crying in Your Face," "PWSteal.Ldpinch.D" and "Cilonen" to start with.

I'm pretty psyched about Syro, and my initial impression of this track is more or less the same as Void 71's. He's hitting a lot of recognizable sounds and styles from across his career in this one track; it'll be interesting to see if that's true of the album as a whole.
