Stars for Robin's delivery of "Let's go back us some coons".

FatFatuousNation - 2011-10-12

THA SUGAH RAIN - 2011-10-13

There was basically a decade of him at war with his employer for like half his show every morning. At some point the bullshit ceased and he disappeared to alien radio.

Just because my interest peaked on the statement that [paraphrasing] "people tried to explain that the name wasn't in reference to black people", I googled around to see what niggerhead could mean.

Of course, the worse place to look for accurate information entertained me the most. From Urban Dictionary (http://bit.ly/nkpIrB):

1. An antiquaited logging and trucking term used to define a large round rock or outcropping of rocks usually on an unpaved road bed that could damage a vehicle.
Now be careful up here, there's a niggerhead as you come out of the turn.

2. A strong black chewing tobacco, usually in twisted plug form.

3. Being extremely lazy and/or stupid.

Also, I came across this nifty little article about it: http://bit.ly/qQuNPg

Thanks poeTV for prompting me to take the time out of my day to learn some things about the history and use of language.

Now, excuse me, I'm going to go chow down on some Nigger Toes.

"Yeah, see? It's just a bunch of rocks." Cena_mark, occupational jackass.

After reading my post, I feel I should make it explicitly clear that I do find the use of Niggerhead extremely offensive. But, much like the term Nigger Toes, I also find it extremely interesting from a etymological standpoint, in the sense of how racism really embedded itself in our language much more deeper than I ever thought before.

Many years ago I had a really good bag of mixed nuts one day and I came across some really big nuts that I had no idea were called Brazil Nuts. I thought they were great. Well, growing up in the south, someone in my family said "let me try a nigger toe". I had to have it explained to me what the hell that was but I couldn't hide my double take. I don't see how someone could NOT find 'nigger toe' or 'niggerhead' offensive. Yet, I guess it's a generational thing.

I know my mom was the first generation to start teaching in fully integrated schools - and she told me when she was little in the 50s that she remembers segregated water fountains and department stores, and never could figure it out. Yet, her grandfather was a huge segregationist. Thankfully, it never rubbed off on her as far as I can tell.

I remember nigger toes, but then again, where I grew up, racial sensitivity was "I have no problem with niggers, everyone should own one." That is direct quote from my family.

Ah, the subtleties of racism.

The Townleybomb - 2011-10-13

+1 because this is the first time I've listened to this guy for years and he is really starting to sound like somebody's granddad!

Cube - 2011-10-13
