Candlejackv616 This man just made my day :) there are not enough stars in the world for this video.
This is such a candidate for the "also his balls are huge" tag its not even funny.
Bort I appreciate his solidarity with the other protesters, but he seems to be shouting at policemen who aren't actually hurting anyone and seem determined to not turn this into a fight. If there had been a beat-down immediately before this by these officers, I'm not seeing signs of it. (That said, I haven't watched the whole video; I got bored of him shouting about "honor" and sort of fast-forwarded through. If someone wants to point me to a moment that shows evidence of a beat-down, I'm ready to eat crow.)
He's an Iraq vet, right? I wonder how he'd feel if I asked him why he tortured Iraqi prisoners.
Old People You're right that he's shouting at a bunch of cops who aren't really doing anything to anyone. However, there's about a 99% chance you're wrong about him torturing Iraqi prisoners. I know it's fun for knee-jerk lefties like you to fantasize that Iraq is another Vietnam, with troops burning villages and waterboarding puppies and whatever, but it's not really like that. I'm a vet, I fought in Baqubah and Ramadi, and I can tell you that the vast majority of US troops conducted themselves with professionalism, humanity, and restraint, just as their superiors ordered them to. You read about a few very bad apples, whose actions were roundly and justly condemned, and you go tarring the entire military with one brush.
I'm a Democrat, and ignorant loud-mouth radicals like you make the rest of us look bad, which gives fuel to the right-wing media, who love to portray liberals as unpatriotic communists. Stop getting your talking-points from blogs written by chubby long-haired shut-ins, stop trying to outdo each other to see who can be the edgier protester, and grow the fuck up.
Here endeth the rant.
Candlejackv616 To be fair he did say he witnessed cops doing some violent stuff to protesters, and you never know maybe some of those "laid back" cops were ones he witnessed earlier doing that stuff.
Its entirely possible those cops while not doing anything at that moment had earlier and he witnessed it and well there you go.
From his view point he probably is most likely one of many soldiers who didn't do reprehensible stuff overseas and to him I wager he can't fathom cops being violent on unarmed civilians who are being violent towards the officers to begin with. Probably makes his blood boil as much is it makes mine.

misterbuns So true. Even IF instances of police brutality had been documented over, say, the course of a month (which they haven't been), these would all be justifiable because this guy might have tortured someone.
Bort I don't think this guy tortured anyone, though it's possible he did.
I don't see any evidence that these cops have beaten anyone, though it's possible they did.
All I'm seeing on this video is a guy accusing cops of very non-specific sins, and the cops refusing to engage.
Bort misterbuns: you cannot possibly be missing the point so badly unless it's deliberate. As far as we know (and as far as Thomas knows), these cops haven't hurt anyone. He references something he saw on October 5, and while that was almost certainly reprehensible, he's trying to hold these particular cops accountable for it. How fair is that? About as fair as accusing Sgt Thomas of torture in Iraq because he's a soldier too.

athodyd Hey Bort, how you doing? I briefly reactivated my account to let you know that you are a retarded toilet of a man-child who has no business talking to anybody about anything other than Green Lantern back issues.
You're right that in the course of this five-minute video the NYPD is not actively assaulting and abusing the citizens it is ostensibly sworn to protect--well spotted! I guess we caught them during an off day. But perhaps the presence of many armed and armored lawmen might (and I am just throwing this out here) be a sort of implied threat against the protestors? Hmm?
Or perhaps this Shamar Thomas gentleman and presumed baby rapist might be expressing some concerns about NYPD behavior in general towards the protestors and the 30 cops he is yelling at were not assembled their at his request because he wanted to specifically let them know that they have no honor. Who could even guess!
Cena_mark I thought this guy was pretty cool at first, but then I was like "WHY ARE YOU STILL YELLING AT THE POLICE?! THEY'RE JUST STANDING THERE! DO YOU WANT TO GET ARRESTED? DO YOU WANT ATTENTION? SHUT UP ALREADY!"
baleen I lived in New York and knew a lot of retired police.
Whatever fantastic ideations you have about police in your happy little bubble are ridiculously false. One time one of them offered to sell me guns, illlegally. Just an off the cuff comment over a beer.

MurgatroidMendelbaum Despite my better judgment, I'm going to have to admit I agree with Cena_mark on this one.
Certainly there must be videos of more eloquent people standing up to beat-cops?
Scrotum H. Vainglorious You'd never see a Coastie stand up for his fellow citizen like that.
Never.
Cena_mark You might, but not this Coastie. I don't support these people's "message" or their methods.
Scrotum H. Vainglorious Coasties by nature are cowardly individuals. Whether or not they agree with the protestors is irrelevant.
Cena_mark Now Sugah, Scrotum can diss me all he wants, that's cool. But for him to call the entire Guard cowards is wrong. I haven't been in long enough to say I've earned any kind of respect, but I serve with some incredibly brave and honorable men and women.
Oh and I still hate My Little Pony.
baleen The Coast Guard mainly just sells drugs and cleans things. They are really basically a bunch of boring dudes who are too cowardly to actually go to war.
Cena_mark This is what we do chump.
Ports, waterways, and coastal security
Drug interdiction
Aids to navigation
Search and rescue
Living marine resources
Marine safety
Defense readiness
Migrant interdiction
Marine environmental protection
Ice operations
Other law enforcement

Jet Bin Fever Now if there were only a couple million more people doing the same exact thing.

Robin Kestrel "You want to fight? Go to Afghanistan."
Word.

Enjoy Tax-payer supported soldier tells tax-payer supported police to leave tax-payer supported Flea Party alone. Glad to hear that went well.

spikestoyiu CJH has a lot of strong opinions regarding specific posters. Do you keep a spreadsheet or something?
THA SUGAH RAIN Spike: I do. I'd share it but the format of this whole website doesn't easily allow for that kind of thing.
CJH spike, my spreadsheet entry on you says "owns replica oriental weapons, daydreams about a black guy insulting his girlfriend so he can 'regulate'"... am i close?
spikestoyiu Haha, because martial arts. Sick burn, ee cummings.
THA SUGAH RAIN No "haha" because CJH is african american and he knows how to tap a thing including spike's girl

wackyakmed Follow-up interview: http://current.com/shows/countdown/videos/marine- corps-veteran-sgt-shamar-thomas-on-occupy-times-square-veterans-ri ghts
He was angry because he saw a nonviolent female protester get punched in the face by an NYPD officer earlier in the day. What a kook.
