Cleaner82 I have to imagine that if anything, it is a carnival of pain. In my mind's eye I see thousands upon thousands of tiny organisms floundering in a sea of their brothers and sisters, bones broken, thin skin bruised, cheeping in inarticulate agony. Probably, at the end of a painful existence bereft of dignity, they end up in my sandwich.

I'm not sure I understand the cruelty remarks. Maybe the process from egg to plate is, on the whole, cruel, but this little fraction of it where the chicks are efficiently placed in a chicken house seems like it would only baffle the chicks not hurt them.
