It's not working right now, but I fired off an email to support and they should get it fixed pretty soon.

Meanwhile the link in question:

http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/tue-september-24-2002/moment -of-zen---mayor-henry

Remove the space that poeTV adds to long links.

Toenails - 2011-11-06

Meanwhile, while I was looking up the date that poe-news was registered, I came across this page:

http://bit.ly/tHTxMN

For those that are skittish about strange links, it's from the website Ripoff Report, and I think someone thinks that this website is gang-stalking them. Pretty fucking strange.

Adham Nu'man - 2011-11-06

"From ripping off a old lady apartment while 10 people stand guard"

From what I remember we had booked 13 people to stand guard. What happened?!?

Toenails - 2011-11-06

Somehow I just knew you were part of the smiley face gang!

Adham Nu'man - 2011-11-06

:)

The Townleybomb - 2011-11-06

For her, it was just 'ripping off a old lady apartment while 10 people stand guard', but to us it was just PoEcon II....

The Mothership - 2011-11-07

Nice work Toenails, now the targets know that we know that they know what we all already know.

oh, and :)

gmol - 2011-11-06

Waitaminute...I remember checking poenews during 9/11..or am I making that up?

Toenails - 2011-11-06

Man, that's what I thought while I was looking for their birth date.

But this is the info I got:

http://whois.domaintools.com/poe-news.com

Hopefully, some of the people in charge can fill us in.

Bort - 2011-11-06

I remember you checking poe-news during 9/11 as well. The initial funny headline was that there was a plane crash or something which meant Erik was stranded at an airport, then the rumor was that a helicopter had crashed into the WTC, and finally the full picture started coming into focus and things got less funny very quickly.

For all I know, Erik is still stranded.

Toenails - 2011-11-06

Man, now that you we are discussing it... it makes more sense.

Just did a quick archive and it looks like the first submissions were on 12/31/00

Cyberblah - 2011-11-06

There are articles in the archive dated as early as December 22nd, at the bottom of this page:

http://www.poe-news.com/archives.php?type=W&ws=200051

support - 2011-11-06

The first story.
http://www.poe-news.com/stories.php?poeurlid=1

Dec 24 2000.

Not sure that is how I would choose to spend my Christmas Eve.

The story is oddly fitting.

As for the rip off report; the amount of hate and attacks heaped on the site was the most surprising aspect to me personally.

Toenails - 2011-11-06

Okay... well that bumps the Moment of Zen to the day before the website was born:

http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-december-21-2000/moment- of-zen---steve-carell-flashback

I like this one pretty well. Will update. I'm glad support fixed the original video but they still haven't touched base with me and I wish they would.

Updating the title but not the description until i get more info.

Toenails - 2011-11-06

Support, can we just talk through email for a bit? I need to get this date straightened out and Cyberblah is pointing out an older date that confirms.

Plus I want the closest Moment of Zen that works for the first date and I'm getting worried I'm trashing up these two video submissions with my post.

Cyberblah - 2011-11-06

Either way, the closest is December 21.

EvilHomer - 2011-11-06

I think all this deserves a HISTORY! tag.

Bisekrankas - 2011-11-07

I read SA for a long while, and followed the link from there. I Have a vivid memory of an epic fagdance thread between Nocturnal Walker and some other guy being the first thing i read. Also Propgirl.

Bort - 2011-11-06

Originally, the domain was "poenews.com". Then Chet let the domain lapse and had to grab "poe-news.com" in a hurry.

Kids, don't let this happen to you. Follow these two safety tips:

1) The contact E-Mail on your domain should always refer to another domain. That way, if the domain lapses, you won't lock yourself out.

2) Resolve that you will update all your domains at one time during the year, for example, every December.

Toenails - 2011-11-06

Dang. And the closest Moment of Zen that premiered after the website was created wasn't until the 9th of January of the next year (if my new theory that poe-news was created on 12/31/00 is correct).

http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/tue-january-9-2001/moment-of -zen---cabinet-secretary

That's the problem with my tributes to poe-related websites, the Daily Show isn't on every day.

sosage - 2011-11-06

I originally wound up at PoE/PoN/PoETV through OMM/Seanbaby/Fat Chicks with Party Hats. That's half my Internet experience from one source.

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-11-06

Same here. and I found those sites through an old fanfic MiSTing site.

Toenails - 2011-11-06

Oh my God.

It wasn't

http://www.worlds-worst.com/worldsworst/

was it??

The Mothership - 2011-11-07

Most of us who found POE in the late 90s/early 00's came in through the OMM or FCWPH doors, and fine doors were they.

Xenagama Warrior Princess - 2011-11-07

Mine was through a Slashfood article about god knows what anymore. I think it might have been about pruno, a wine created in prison.

Strangely that was over seven years ago through POE Red and I have been a lurker ever since until this year when I got a membership.

But FCWPH and Seanbaby is something I have picked up and enjoyed through POE Red.

Squeamish - 2011-11-07

Yeah, I found it through Fat Chicks with Party Hats.

It's been a long, strange trip, POE. I hope you're still around in another ten years, in one form or another.

EvilHomer - 2011-11-07

I found it through... come to think of it, I don't even know how I found it. I was still in highschool, so, Yahoo searching vampires or porn or something.

I do remember the day I learned PoE Red was down, however. I was still in the Army; I'd just come out of an eight-month blackout on personal internet use. The first thing I did was go to check on PoE, and then, nothing. Man, I was so crushed. Funny thing was, I used to regale my platoon with stories of PoE. We were all nerds- Star Wars fans, btards, Wiccans, and at least one furry otherkin- but I was the only guy with any PoE/SA creds. So every night my battle buddies would demand a story, and I'd tell them of PoE. The Ballad of Dragonguyver, the Saga of Sonic Passion, the Tale of That One Dude Who Was Traumatized by the Death of Rom The Spaceknight. I had an old printout of the Time Cube site taped to the inside of my footlocker, and when we later discovered that one guy had a stack of Harry Potter macro vore slash fiction hidden under his bunk, I nodded knowingly and smiled. Yes, yes, I knew of these things. This was PoE worthy.

Fucking PoE. Why do you enter our lives, just to leave us in the end?

Adham Nu'man - 2011-11-07

POE 2021, Now with 20% more Cena Mark: IN SMELL-O-RAMA

Cena_mark - 2011-11-07

I first came across Portal of Evil way back in 2002 googling David Gonterman. I lurked for a good long time before signing onto POETV and becoming the Cena_mark you know and love.

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-11-07

Toenails: I just remembered, it was Shinji's Vault of Anime MiSTings.

Walker - 2011-11-07

I also stumbled into the POE network via Seanbaby/OMM/FCIPH. And then co-founded Sex Sex World and later gave up on everything around 2003 except for POE TV.

Did I miss anything?

Born in the RSR - 2011-11-07

I googled "evil".

kingofthenothing - 2011-11-08

I didn't Google "evil", but I used some other ancient search engine, like Lycos or Infoseek.

Jack Dalton - 2011-11-06

Did you hear the news!? Support is banning everyone from poe-news!!

Well, more or less.

Jack Dalton - 2011-11-06

By the way, is poetv.com next?

Toenails - 2011-11-06

No, poetv.com still serves it purpose as a mid-tier video sharing site.

As long as we all do our duty and find the very worst the internet has to offer, we won't have anything to worry about!

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2011-11-06

I simply can't imagine life without poetv.com

chumbucket - 2011-11-07

It's been my daily dose of useless crap for years.

Xenocide - 2011-11-07

Stay tuned for my exclusive interview with his holiness, Pope John Paul II.

memedumpster - 2011-11-07

I found poe-news and poetv through poe-red. I literally lurked for years on these websites before I ever registered. I will miss poe-news, I always liked to go there and read the forums when I was tired of the intelligent conversation of yahoo news. Then I'd come here and be happy no one here was as childishly stupid.

End of an era.

Gojira1000 - 2011-11-07

Came in through OMM and FCWPH, have watched the wreckage ever since. Probably is time for a reboot, I suppose.
I miss the halcyon days of sociopath and Ygurts, though, so I'm maybe not the best judge.

eatenmyeyes - 2011-11-07

In my first year of college(99-00), a friend introduced me to Fat Chicks in Party Hats. Apparently she knew one of the people pictured (Ginger has a secret. She ate 400 pies and did fart. Then she ate the fart!!!). I later sent a picture of my friend's mom (yes over there i ate a worker a peecock and a christmas tree. they now become my hat.).
From there I found POE, Seanbaby, Old Man Murray, and the rest of the associated sites.

Truly, these were the Lyceum of the Internet.

Rudy - 2011-11-07

Does this mean there's nobody left to call us all disgusting racists?

:(

Louis Armstrong - 2011-11-07

I can create a "Butcher Rich" or "Supervile" account to help you cope.

Good bye POEN. My favorite news article of all time will forever be "Kikoman is made out of people. ITS PEOPLE!!!"
