Websites don't die, they just leave their forums active until January.
Merzbau - 2011-11-06
The Mothership - 2011-11-06
somebody want to fill The Mothership in? has POENEWS gone the way of POERED? Is POETV next?
Toenails - 2011-11-06
Poetv is not going to change. For now at least.

Poe-news, for as far as we know, will not go the way that Red went. Support alludes to a discussion and some sort of new beginning.

baleen - 2011-11-06

Weird. I don't understand how he can just make a new news site, who's original membership came from a motley crew of mostly intelligent, funny people who communally enjoyed the wreckage of poe red (and even before that with the silliness of Old Man Murray).

You can't just make funny creative culture out of dust.

Adham Nu'man - 2011-11-06
POE Red died of old age, Poe-News died of malpractice, Poetv is alive and "well".

Cena_mark - 2011-11-06
I'd hate if POETV went down. I'd have a hard time finding another on line community that would tolerate me.

WHO WANTS DESSERT - 2011-11-06
It sucks that PoeNews is being shut down. And rather than being a suitable replacement Bo-News is just an exercise in how many times you can read the words "manbaby" and "hog cum" before they lose any semblance of meaning in between bickering about forums rivalries older than this site.

namtar - 2011-11-06
The worst parts of most sites are the forums.

The people that use them always think the forums are the best part.

Hugo Gorilla - 2011-11-06
Wasn't there a forum portion to Poetv initially?

Toenails - 2011-11-06

http://web.archive.org/web/20060219070407/http://poetv.com/tal k/

Apparently poetv.com/talk is now a forbidden directory within poetv. But for the sake of the Video Game Cabal, I say we get that thing back up and running.

The Mothership - 2011-11-07
DAMMIT, I LIKED POENews. I didn't submit as often as I do here, but I relied on that damn site for news and things. Where am I going to have to go to hear about esoteric happenings and random shit? FARK? Fuck that!

takewithfood - 2011-11-07
I glance at Poe-News daily, and will miss it. PoeTV had better be okay; there really is nothing quite like it.

baleen - 2011-11-07
I was going to respond to a comment Toenails made about support and Chet, but it seems to have been deleted. Unless I've totally lost where it was.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2011-11-07
It was probably deleted. 'Support' is not exactly the fairest or most level-headed of things. The supposed rules of this site are only selectively followed anyway.

Nevertheless, the community is great here, but I never found the community to be all that great in Poe News.

As far as this site making money - it couldn't make much, but I suppose a little is better than nothing.

Toenails - 2011-11-07
I've been trying to get a dialog going with support and I hope they didn't take my explanation of what happened with Chet handing them control of the PoE Network as some sort of derisive remark against them. It's probably just a bug because of the amount posts I've made in the last couple days.

Still, those silly billies are quite fickle sometimes.

EvilHomer - 2011-11-06
PoE has a news site?
MrBuddy - 2011-11-07
It used to.

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-11-07
It started out as a new site and eventually turned into a perpetual indignancy generator.

chumbucket - 2011-11-07
Seems redundant since poeTV is basically my "news".

Aelric - 2011-11-06
I'm really hoping that POETV survives this culling. The chances of finding this many funny people on the internet acting mostly civil is not bloody likely.
Adham Nu'man - 2011-11-06
Fuck you asshole

dairyqueenlatifah - 2011-11-06
We'll never find another Cena_Mark, that's for sure.

baleen - 2011-11-06
No, people like him come in go. Usually when they realize they've become the butt of all jokes they get bored or frustrated leave. Mark seems to really enjoy it, but then again he's proven to be pretty slow in general.

Xenagama Warrior Princess - 2011-11-07
Somehow I remember Superfister69 the most.

spikestoyiu - 2011-11-07
Cena_mark will never leave because people constantly reply to him and validate his existence.

What the fuck's a POE red?

EvilHomer - 2011-11-07
I don't remember anything Superfister posted. I do, however, remember his sigs. *sniff* Ah, sweet memories. I'll never look at a block of wood the same way again...

Cena_mark - 2011-11-07
I have fun here. That's what matters.

Toenails - 2011-11-07

It's the original portal of evil. It sort of had a black and red motif so it's been called POE Red.

grimetooth - 2011-11-06
i lurked poe sites since middle school, it's pretty heartbreaking to see them dismantled one by one :( i really hope poetv sticks around, it's like the only people on the internet who share my tastes!
Caminante Nocturno - 2011-11-06
Don't worry. Support has stated that POETV will not suffer in any way for this. We've still got a thousand wonderful hours.
Nikon - 2011-11-07
I'm really glad to hear that. I enjoy talking with everyone here.

Poe-News was really something back in the day.

Hooker - 2011-11-06
I have been lurking this whole thing with rapt attention. Five stars for how hilarious it has been. It seems like none of the principle parties seem to have gotten what they wanted or gained any measure of happiness from the entire thing and they all seem more jaded and bitter as a result of it.

Just a wonderful story of jerks on the Internet not being able to have nice things.
Xenocide - 2011-11-07
I have over 5,000 posts on POE News. Except for the last 100 or so, they are all over five years old.

I wish I could say I'll miss it, but I feel like it died a long time ago.

I do wish they'd restore the old post archives, though. I want to go back and read dumb stuff I wrote in 2004.
baleen - 2011-11-07
My thoughts exactly. There were some posts from other people that I bookmarked and wished to revisit. I would like to find the 7-8 posts that I made that more than a few dozen people bulbed as well. They're all gone.

PlushJake - 2011-11-07
Please. Let's stay together...
PlushJake - 2011-11-07
I don't always show it. But... I love you guys.

EvilHomer - 2011-11-07
I love you too, PlushJake.

I love all of you.

Cena_mark - 2011-11-07
I love you guys too. Some of the comments posted on the video I made soon before leaving for Basic Training were truly touching.
This really is the best online community I've been a part of.

Riskbreaker - 2011-11-07
I think poetv is a pretty cool guy, it has cat videos and doesn't afraid of anything.

mashedtater - 2011-11-08
i dont want to be seperated! :(

memedumpster - 2011-11-07
If poetv goes away I am registering a new YouTube account called poetv and you can all come and insult me there. Otherwise, suicide.
Cena_mark - 2011-11-07
We could feasibly start a community there if need be. I'd be down.

EvilHomer - 2011-11-07
Basement dwelling faggots from /b/ managed to keep Encyclopedia Dramatica running even after it's purge, surely we can get a continuity-of-government plan set up?

FreeOJ - 2011-11-08
Pretty much my favorites page on youtube..

Toenails - 2011-11-09

Oh wait, POENEWS is dead now. HAHAHAHAH that's hiliarious.

Uulanbaatorbaby - 2011-11-07
Despite lurking on POE News since high school, I wrote excactly one post on it.

It was about hobosexuals.

Thank you, POE.
Louis Armstrong - 2011-11-07
I remember my only bulbed post. It was on that story about "killing" dogs, doing surgery, and bringing them back to life. Having read a Scientific American about stasis that was basicly what the dog article was about, I shared and was lauded as an expert despite typing errors.

It felt great.
Snakeweapon - 2011-11-07
Poe Red was one of the first non-bbs sites I ever visited, next to a Gillian Anderson photoshop porn site, and another one that hosted absurd amounts of impulse tracker modules.
Poe to me, is like the veterans club of the internet.
FreeOJ - 2011-11-08
I just found out about poetv and poe news a few months ago..
Severian the Torturer - 2011-11-08
Ah, the smarmiest song ever, with the smarmiest sitcom ever. A fitting goodbye to POE News.
