Folks on the ground are saying they also covered their names and badge numbers.

Fuck this shit.

Jet Bin Fever - 2011-12-13
This is fucking evil. Like, really and truly. How can these people be okay with this?

Pillager - 2011-12-13
How is this legal?
kingarthur - 2011-12-13
I echo this question.

Cena_mark - 2011-12-13
The occupiers claim tents are protected free speech. You hypocrites don't think the cops deserve the same rights?

citrusmirakel - 2011-12-13
Who the fuck is claiming that?

God damn it, I replied to cena_mark. I am such a sucker.

dr_rock - 2011-12-13
Cops on duty don't have the privileged of the 1st Amendment when it comes to upholding the rights granted to civilians via the Constitution. When they're off duty, speech is free, on duty you fucking uphold the law. There is no way this is legal.

baleen - 2011-12-13
replying to cena mark is sorta like pissing into the open mouth of a dying confederate shoe shiner. it feels good, it's easy, and he sort of enjoys the taste.

Cena_mark - 2011-12-13
Dr. Rock you missed my point. My point is that Tents aren't covered by the First Amendment, yet protesters were crying they were when they cleaned up Zucatti Park.
Here's an example of people making the claim that Tents are protected as symbolic speech.

Easy. You're a public employee. If you were a cop who was videotaped calling someone a chink or something, you'd be in trouble. Teachers in public schools can't tell you you need to worship Jesus Christ or curse a student out. You can say whatever you want in your free time and no one can say anything. But I know of very few jobs where you can say and do whatever you want on-duty. Besides, not using a tent is also considered free speech, but the cop that insisted on that would be reprimanded because it's not individual free speech--it's a command issued by his job to use the tent. His individual choice has nothing to do with it.

Innocent Bystander - 2011-12-13
Wow. That is some evil empire-style ish right there.
Cena_mark - 2011-12-13
Its an arrest tent, not a murder tent. Plus its probably to protect the protesters from the gulf coast sun.

Louis Armstrong - 2011-12-13
It's not pepper spray, it's a food item! It's not a tazer, it's a reflex tester! It's not a troll, it's Cena Marx.

Innocent Bystander - 2011-12-13
No, he's got a point. It can't be bad if it doesn't kill anyone.

Ocyrus - 2011-12-13
It is officially time to exercise 2nd Amendment remedies, right Tea Party? Somehow that concept was good enough to try "kill" Obamacare with, wonder why they are silent now in the face of real authoritarianism.

Why don't I hear cries of teeeeeeerranyyyyyy from those colonial dressed LARPERS from the Tea Party?
Oscar Wildcat - 2011-12-13
Because when faced with actual tyranny and oppression these are the folks that either run and hide or cowardly submit to it. Hence all the great chest beating.

animegurl1000 - 2011-12-13
Because tyranny and big government are only problematic if they trample on the rights of bigots and the wealthy.

Hell, from skimming through teabagger sites, I've found that a lot of them enjoy videos such as these.

Just be glad they are not taking lessons from mexican officers:

http://www.reforma.com/galeria_de_audios/24/047045/

Context: mexican police killed two students in recent protests against the goverment in a southern state in Mexico.
