Cops on duty don't have the privileged of the 1st Amendment when it comes to upholding the rights granted to civilians via the Constitution. When they're off duty, speech is free, on duty you fucking uphold the law. There is no way this is legal.

Dr. Rock you missed my point. My point is that Tents aren't covered by the First Amendment, yet protesters were crying they were when they cleaned up Zucatti Park.

Easy. You're a public employee. If you were a cop who was videotaped calling someone a chink or something, you'd be in trouble. Teachers in public schools can't tell you you need to worship Jesus Christ or curse a student out. You can say whatever you want in your free time and no one can say anything. But I know of very few jobs where you can say and do whatever you want on-duty. Besides, not using a tent is also considered free speech, but the cop that insisted on that would be reprimanded because it's not individual free speech--it's a command issued by his job to use the tent. His individual choice has nothing to do with it.

Its an arrest tent, not a murder tent. Plus its probably to protect the protesters from the gulf coast sun.
