American Standard God, I love his annoyance.
Sorry, bigot. It's gonna keep coming up, because you should never be allowed to forget it.

Bort Even if Ron Paul had a staffer write his newsletters and he wasn't quite aware of their contents, he eventually promised to take "full responsibility" for the content. So, in what fashion has he taken responsibility? How hard would it be to denounce these statements:
"If you have ever been robbed by a black teen-aged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be."
"Given the inefficiencies of what DC laughingly calls the criminal justice system, I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal."
It's not hard, unless you're a bigot or are knowingly pandering to bigots.
One time Ron Paul took $500 from Stormfront or one of those white supremacist organizations; he explained that as (I paraphrase) "anyone can give me money, it doesn't mean I'm going to do what they want". I can get behind that, assuming he's sincere. But I really wish he'd returned the check, then called up the Southern Poverty Law Center and got them to donate $501 in a very public ceremony. When I say "very public ceremony" I mean there would be a black gospel choir and some Orthodox Jews dancing to klezmer music.

baleen I honestly believe Ron Paul is sincerely naive about all this stuff. He will give presentations at the John Birch Society or the ACLU, he doesn't care. This will still destroy him politically.
cognitivedissonance Dude is gonna win Iowa, and the party's going to implode. Gonna laugh.
Vaidency I would consider that an extremely positive outcome. I'm tired of a few thousand activist pig farmers having massively disproportionate political power in this country.
baleen With Michigan and Florida moving their caucuses to January Iowa already is much more unimportant. New Hampshire and Iowa are now mostly symbolic victories.
badideasinaction Yeah, because Mike Huckabee's win vaulted him all the way to the top...
...really, the best I ever hope for Iowa now is the wingnut that inevitably gets picked there is an unelectable wingnut. Thankfully, if he wins it, Ron Paul is that man.
baleen It might be close but Romney has picked up some big endorsements, and he has the funding. GOP mainstream voters will choose Romney. Rove chose Romney a year ago. There has never been a choice.
kingarthur Gandalf's bigoted red state brother.
Also, is he recording this for some sort of conspiracy-driven documentation?
Xenocide The Paultards are already gearing up for their messiah's inevitable defeat by accusing the media of being biased against him. I'm sure in two months this clip will turn up in a shoddily made youtube documentary about the evil Commie/Jew/Media/Romney/Obama super-conspiracy to destroy Ron Paul.
Xenocide At the start, he's looking down at the floor and shifting his feet back and forth, like an eight year old who got caught in a lie.
But seriously, CNN, you've asked him about this TWICE already. Why can't you ask Ron Paul other questions, like "hey Ron Paul, why are you so great?" Or "Mr. Paul please make passionate love to me while destroying America's infrastructure."
Why do you keep questioning him about it just because it's an important issue he's afraid to address? That's not journalism!
Oh, wait, that's exactly what journalism is. Sorry, CNN, I was confused because before now you hadn't done anything resembling it in years. Carry on.

memedumpster Google Ron Paul... oh, CNN did...
spikestoyiu Freakin' media's an idiot.
Riskbreaker Poor Ron, he needs some bouncers to protect him from those evil reporters.
StanleyPain I remember following this shit wayyyy back when Ron Paul became a "thing", back when Orcinus was pretty much the only political blog willing to give it any serious time.
The thing about Ron Paul is that he doesn't earnestly seem to be some kind of closet racist, but rather that he just doesn't give a shit where his support or money comes from (which is equally as bad, really, if not worse) and honestly doesn't give a shit about racial issues.
dairyqueenlatifah I was okay with Ron Paul until I saw him on some show being interviewed and someone brought up the fact that he was against the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and when asked why, he said, in so many words, that he was against it because it violated white's property rights, because they could no longer put "whites only" on the front of their stores/restaurants/water fountains.
I think they only reason this hasn't become a bigger deal to the point of destroying his name in politics forever (like Herman Cain's sexual harassment fiasco) is because the media doesn't take him seriously as a candidate.
If only they knew how many paranoid shut ins across in the internet worship him.
