This reminds me of Plinkett's Indiana Jones 4 review; the appeal is in vicariously living through the character, not the actual character. This show is a lot better when it's just Duchovny being goofy, and godawful when they turn it into a couch session character study drama.
Smug, rich, condescending character whose problem is that he has a lot of sex, and to top it all off, he's played by David Duchovny, and he's supposed to be loveable to the audience.
Compare how badly this was done to the exact same premise in Curb Your Enthusiasm.
