After all the massive hype about how this was the most terrible thing ever, I feel let down. It's just your every-day shitty sitcom with the same boring fucking characters and stale jokes that every sitcom on TV swirls down the bowl now. The premise dips into a decidedly surreal 1980s vibe (men dressing as women? WACKY!), but it's just average-grade awful.
Also, like virtually every other sitcom, it asks that its audience sympathize with characters who cannot be sympathized with. It's supposed to be all "topical" with the main character being out of a job looking for employment, but he basically lives upper-middle class and doesn't seem to be really hurting (I've been out of work for a year, but hey I still have my fancy house, wife, daughter, nice clothes, free time and money to hang out at a bar, great entertainment system, etc.). No one is remotely real except for the fat TFL guy who is just the same fat TFL guy whose "the one guys friend" character abused to death in every comedy movie/TV show.
Personally, I would argue that Cavemen was substantially worse.
