A clique within a clique, a secret subculture within POE itself, breeding and inbreeding. I shall tell the tale when the tears have ended.

Never forget Jesse Stutzman.

It's as if a bathroom stall has had its walls washed clean of graffiti.

This is going straight over my head. Explain?

In a nutshell - X-Entertainment had a forum of people with nothing in common other than being the people who'd sign up for a bulletin-board forum on a junk-culture site in 1998, then after a few years, the webmaster of X-E blew a gasket and deleted the site when he realized that people were making fun of him there. The forumgoers were a diaspora bouncing from e/n site to e/n site for a year or two, until one of them started up another forum for people to haunt. Think Poe-News with a base age about ten years younger, with much more trolling (but an audience that knew it was being trolled because they were also trolling).

It was the last vestige of Web 1.0 for me after Poe-News went kaput. I'll miss it.

This video was what greeted the people who tried logging in tonight. No advance notice.

Gotta admit, it's classier than how certain other forums went under.

Also, X-E was founded by Matt Carracappa, the son of Stephen "The Stick" Carracappa, also known as the "Mafia Cop" (a hired goon working for Vincent "The Chin" Gigante). X-E closed when Carracappa the Elder went in, causing Carracappa the Younger to end the original forum. The group bummed about and a new forum was started. At least six regular POE members were also members of this original NCN forum group.

Not sure what we're doing now. Hopefully something productive.

Matt now writes all of Burger King's kids meal ads.

I just know X-E as the Seanbaby lite, yet heavy...if that makes sense. I just went there to see if I could find some old articles I enjoyed from there, but holy shit. I gotta go through 10 years of blog posts to find them?!?

Stopheles
At least SIX? You, me, who else?

If we could get Cena and Outrider together we'd have SUCH a Love Connection. Not sure who would be the bottom, though. (Outrider is the NCN Cena. Down to us momentarily suspecting he WAS Cena until the Cena Videos proved it otherwise and then we discussed Baleen.)

StanleyPain
I am a pretty old school internet surfer and I honestly have never heard of these forums or any of this stuff...holy shit, learn somethin' every day.

Cherry Pop Culture
Oh, too bad about X-Entertainment. I liked that website, but as time went on, you could tell the poor bastard writing the articles got sick of it. I hope he's on to better things.

I had no idea it had a forum though.

Mancakes
Jesus, I stopped going there years ago. Weird to hear that there was an actual community.

My site was still receiving referrals from X-E as of like two months ago. I saw it pop up in my logs and couldn't believe it still existed.

Solder, Cornonthecabre, Seven, SZJ, and Mento, Outrider and George have admitted to lurking.
Squeamish
Oh man. I remember checking out X-E... what was it, ten years ago? I read it avidly when I was in college. Never viewed the forums, though.

That thing about, about the mob boss father. Is that true? My bullshit sense is tingling, but odder things have been proven true.
cognitivedissonance
It's true. I spent several weeks verifying it all via various databases I shouldn't have access to. Here's more of the story. It was debated as to how much he knew of his father's activities. Caracappa wasn't a mob boss, he was not a made man, he was simply a cop on the take to a made mob boss.

Squeamish
Huh. While I don't see any mention of Caracappa the younger there, if the connection IS true, then that's kinda fucked up. That's like hearing Seanbaby's mom is a member of the Yakuza or something.

cognitivedissonance
It was clinched when we learned that he kept chinchillas, which was the chosen (incredibly specific) pet of X-E Matt. That was "beyond reasonable doubt" for us.

Rudy
I stopped going there when they ran out of ancillary He-Man characters to post about.

The only info I can find on Stephen Caracappa's family mentions that he has a wife and daughter (no sons), and that he moved to Vegas in the mid-1990s. From what I've found on X-Entertainment, Matt Caracappa has several brothers and sisters, and he's apparently lived in the New York area most of his life. Perhaps they're related some other way, but it doesn't seem like Stephen is Matt's father.

I'd hate to think that all of those childhood toys X-E reminisced about were bought with MAFIA MURDER MONEY.

KnowFuture
X-E was what there was for me before finding Seanbaby and POE. It fit the expectations for a Web 1.0 thing. Just checked, James Lileks' website is still there. Whew.
Jet Bin Fever
Oh yeah, those guys.
badideasinaction
All the forums going down at the same time. Someone's behind it.

Somehow this will all end when Richard Kyanka uploads an alien squid thing to the front page of 4chan, ushering in a new age of internet co-operation.
