Oh, Mike. Something about your voice.

Incidentally, which episode is this from?

Mike, seriously underrated and unfairly placed in the shadow of Joel.
chairsforcheap - 2012-02-10
gotta agree. I love them equally.

Dread Pirate Roberts - 2012-02-10
If you watch the credits, he was head writer for most, if not all of the show's run. He was almost always the guy behind the better jokes.

I still love Joel for his innocent attitude, but both hosts have a special place in my heart.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-02-10
Yeah, Joel's major contributions were the gizmonics (the invention exchange things and a lot of the wacky props), as that was kind of what he did when he was a stand-up comic. Plus, he had the stoner cue-card reading delivery that was kind of endearing.

When he left to do that horrid "TV Wheel" one-off on Comedy Central, you really got an idea how much he needed the other cast members.

I can't decide which of my children/b-movie show hosts I'd leave on the sinking Titanic.

memedumpster - 2012-02-10
You grab Tom Servo and shove the children out of the lifeboat, of course.

StanleyPain - 2012-02-10
In fairness to Joel, he admits, in retrospect, that leaving MST was a little arrogant and mistaken. He admits he had kind of a "these people are going to sink me" attitude. Everyone is all made up now, though, they just prefer doing their riffing stuff separately as Rifftrax and Cinematic Titanic.

Can I get in on this discussion about Mike and Joel? I got a can of gasoline with me!

MIKE > JOEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

STOP TEARING US APART

Pillager - 2012-02-11
Joel > Mike.

Case in point, MST3K's last seasons on the SciFi channel.

Wisdon tooth extraction level of painful.

RockBolt - 2012-02-11
Yeah, Revenge of the Creature, Riding with Death, Agent for H.A.R.M., Prince of Space, Space Mutiny, Time Chasers, The Final Sacrifice, Girl in Gold Boots, and Horrors of Spider Island really sucked

Aelric - 2012-02-11
Pillager: Deep Deep Down. Your argument is invalid.

The problems with the SciFi era episodes wasn't because of the cast and entirely because SciFi wanted to meddle in things, because they had this weird belief that having a *STORY ARC* was a requirement to keep people watching the show.

Also they required all movies to be something that would be showable without MST3k; everything had to be sci-fi, fantasy, or horror.

And whatever was left on the table had to be so puritanically-edited as well. It's kind of funny how now every SciFi show has a bunch of obligatory swearing in it when before you couldn't even say "ass."

BHWW - 2012-02-10
This particular actress was awful, and of course there was the whole awkward thing (riffed on by Mike and the bots of course) where she and the scientist/werelizard just barely met and decided they were like, soul mates or something over the course of an afternoon.

This is easily one of my favorite MSTs, and not just because it was filmed entirely in my hometown (and they did, indeed, film the "OH WOW MOONROCKS" scene at Sandia Crest, though it's so damn dark in the film I wonder why they bothered going all the way up there for such an awfully shot scene).

But, this clip ends too soon I think...the whole 2 minute thing where you see her mind slowly turn ...
