I approve. Especially imagining Grimace Knows wrappers.

My nephews, aged 10 and 4, do not know who Grimace is. Likewise, they don't know the Hamburglar, Birdie, Mayor McCheese, Big Mac, Captain Crook or the Gobble-ins.

Sid and Marty Krofft killed McDonaldland. Overly-zealous health nuts have purged the characters from advertising. Only Ronald remains, but probably not for long.

Kind of sad.

I'm actually very happy to learn that your nephews don't know who Grimace is.

First they came for Joe Camel,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a smoker.

Then they came for Grimace,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Big Mac eater.

Yes. We are being robbed of our culture when children don't know who Mayor McCheese is.

Didn't U2 write a song about Shamrock Shakes?

Apparently, as a toddler i saw a commercial for McDonald's that had something called Fry Kids in it. For a while afterwards i would freak out when my parents took the car into the car wash, would scream about fry kids, point out the window at those fringed floppy things that spin around and beat your car clean, and then cry in terror.

I for one am glad this shit is off the TV.

I was born in the early 80's and I've never heard of Captain Crook. Is that the source of the problems in my life?

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-02-19
You know what? Aside from Ronald, the McDonald's mascots weren't really memorable, especially when compared to the legion of other mascots they were competing against back in their prime.

I guess it's what you'd call a prime.
