Bobby's interest would be halfhearted at best, Joseph Gribble's interest would be sincere, because he genuinely IS autistic. Bobby would do it for an episode and get tired of it, like he did with Satanism and doggy dancing and rose bush farming.

cognitivedissonance Considering Dale Gribble is genuinely schizophrenic, and John Red Corn is obviously deeply delusional as well, it's a wonder Joseph can do anything at all. Bobby will get straightened out pretty well when he joins the Army, since he's basically Cotton Hill, although the running motif of Cotton's backstory is that all of his war stories contradict each other and all his medals are a lie.
In fact, everybody on this show is a liar. Especially Peggy, WHO MURDERED A MAN IN COLD BLOOD AND TURNED HIM INTO SAUSAGE.
