Nobody parodies David Lynch better than David Lynch.
If you're ever in the Hollywood area, check out Jumbo's Clown Room, the pseudo strip club where Lynch came to write. Probably influenced his decision to include reds and blues in every scene.
This is a pretty good album too. Not sure I like the direction he's been taking in recent years filmmaking-wise (the digital video really kills his one-distinct visual style) but whatever it's David Lynch.
It just seems like he's been being weird just for the sake of being weird lately, which might have always been the case but it never FELT like it.

I think Inland Empire broke something inside him.

Clowny Clown Clown this is not.
But it's better than almost every movie he's made since Wild At Heart (The Straight Story is the amazing exception), so stars for that.

oh come on, what about the one with harry dean stanton and the guy who's riding lawn mower across several states to visit his brother

Lost Highway is amazing. It's the best Silent Hill movie adaptation to date.

Silent Hill straight up lifted several images from Jacob's Ladder.
