So often I'm working on something with POETV playing on my laptop off to one side. My girlfriend will come over, see the laptop and would like to know what the Hell is going on. And I never have answers.
Bullshit you fucking poser. If you are a true member of this community, you never had a girlfriend, or you had one long ago before you were fat and disgusting and she totally broke your heart and threw it in the garbage.
I explain the nerd: in databases, "null" is a value that means "absence of value, undefined, we have no idea what this is". And all comparisons to a null value result in "false".
So let's say we've got "x" and x is set to null. Is x greater than 10? No. Is it less than 10? No. Is it equal to 10? No. So what the hell value is it then? Well that's just it, there is no value to it.
Technically you can compare anything to the SQL null -- thus contradicting my original post -- but since you just get "false" any time you try, it's not a very definitive comparison.
