Every once in a while, the hype gets to me and I feel like I'm an idiot if I don't like it. So I'll watch it and I'll be lucky if I can get through the entire episode. It's just awful.

What I've found astounding about South Park is how people who lean conservative have glommed onto the parts of the show that originate with a fat, racist character. Cartman pretty much single-handedly seems to have revived the use of "hippie" and "commie" as epithets for people one dislikes without actually knowing anything about those words or their definitions.

I find it odd that many people are worried that some will miss what's supposed to be satire and take it to heart as desirable behavior, pointing the finger at stuff like Beavis & Butthead while giving Eric a pass.

They used to be, once upon a time. There have been some pretty sharp episodes but I stopped watching after season 7 or so. I don't know exactly how bad it's gotten since then but from this clip I can deduce much.

Cherry Pop Culture
I stopped watching at then end of the 14th season. There was great stuff all around, but I knew the production couldn't keep up. I did want to watch more, but I just haven't had it in me to sit down and watch it.

It may be for the best I stopped watching on a personal high note.

The "Cartman goes back in time and talks to Benjamin Franklin about the Founding Fathers and learns a lesson" episode was the end of the show for me.

WHO WANTS DESSERT
I stopped watching after Manbearpig. They made an entire episodoe without a single joke, just about how crazy Al Gore was and how global warming isn't real.

Yeah, Southpark has some /incredibly/ great jokes now and then. The problem is that they don't seem to know how to push aside the nonsense and just let the show be genuinely funny. But it's definitely worth watching occasionally, for that one episode that ends up being hilarious /despite/ all the crap they shove in.

It's a really old one, but the Southpark movie contains probably my all-time favorite:
