movies that don't need to be made
I guarentee this will be played completely, tragically straight.
THAT SAID, it is almost impossible for a japanese CG military action movie to not be entertaining as hell.
If there's a japanese voiced version, their voice actors are so much better than the cheap americans they end up hiring for 99% of dubs.
Noticable when they're yelling, the american just sound like he's waiting for a coffee brake.
For stuff like the CG Appleseed movies and Vexille, I'd almost say it's probably worth just turning off subtitles altogether and watching it with the Japanese voicework. You're not going to care about the story and if you're reading the dialogue rather than watching the action you're missing the point.
Related: There was an old-timey Starship Troopers anime back before the movie that was made based loosely on the book. It sounds entertaining enough. All youtube has is a pre-murder Mr. Anime review: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPI7f1JDuzs
the CGI saturday morning cartoon was the best thing after the first movie
I always wanted a sterile, computer generated, Starship Troopers movie, with none of the charm of the original, and no conception of what made it good in the first place.
just call it the fucking halo movie and it plays exactly the same way.
Eh, looks like your typical action video game cutsc-
...oh my god it's a movie?
Jesus Christ, is too much to ask for a fucking proper Mobile Infantry powered armor suit, with jump jets and flamethrowers and nuclear bazookas?
see starship troopers; marauder (3rd movie)
which is actually not entirely bad
Good to see that Ray Dream Studio is still being used for CG.
Mongoose Publishing did a miniatures WarHammer style game that combined the movie, the book and the cartoon.
It's out of print but I snag copies of the base set off eBay now and then. I just love having a desk full of the arachnids. I'll probably never play it, I just love the bugs.
