I bought Way Out West for a girlfriend for Christmas around 2007 and even though we broke up a couple of years ago we stayed friends. I was pretty disappointed when she sold her records and the stuff she set aside for me was Michael Jackson's ET rather than Way Out West, because Way Out West is one of the greatest albums of all time, right up there with Sheldon Allman's "Sing Along With Drac"

A perfectly respectable cover version. The drummer is great, and the endless instrumental break from the Doors version is not missed.

The old girlfriend who owned Metal Machine Music also owned a Mae West Album. She was a grad student in anthropology, an adult theater projectionist, and she played the bass. When I temporarily lost my mind and flirted with a woman in Poe Red, an incident that was thrown in my face for years, it was because she said something that reminded me of that old girlfriend, and it just slipped out.

The instrumental break is the best part.

It's not bad, actually. I'm just not missing it right now.
