Uhm, Bobby McFerrin IS Bob Marley. I know a lot of people don't know this but he changed his name and persona in the early 80's to distance himself from his association with drugs. In 1999 Garth Brooks attempted the same thing as "Chris Gaines", only over cowboy hats instead of drugs. But neither were musical or commercial successes, and each retired from music after mustering only a single one-hit wonder ("Don't Worry Be Happy" for Marley/McFerrin, and "Lost in You" for Brooks/Gaines). Look up Garth Brooks if you don't believe me; it's weird, I know.
It's a bad joke among many Bob Marley fans that he "died" in 1981, but he's alive and well. I heard a rumour that he might be a celebrity guest judge on the next season of American Idol, but he's been making a pretty good musical comeback under his new "T-Pain" persona, so who knows.
