"As it turns out, we're all living in some kind of badly-written attempt at political satire."

It took you this long to realize that?

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-07-07

Remember when even politicians had some measure of shame and slunk away into obscurity after they made royal gaffes that even a drunken hobo would recognize as a sign of deep mental defect?

Or when voters would give up on candidates that displayed their brain damage and then claimed to be proud of it? I predict the GOP faithful will still vote for this douche, even though he's shown himself unfit to be in charge of deciding what's best for a pet, much less for actual constituents.

No.

Oscar Wildcat - 2012-07-07

I'm afraid it was ever thus, SPK. When a monkey stares into a mirror, no saint peers back out.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-07-07

I present as a refutation to the both of you the fact that we never had President Quayle.

He was just 8 years ahead of his time for his fellow Republicans.

Old_Zircon - 2012-07-07

I'm with JHM, I don't remember that. But I was born in the middle of the Carter administration.

dead_cat - 2012-07-08

No, but I do remember when politicians knew they couldn't come right out and say horrible shit without disguising it first, and when the people running the elections required at least a modicum of intelligence in their hand-picked candidates.

Siebenstein - 2012-07-07

Damn near unwatchable.

This is the only video I want of Joe Walsh making noises like a loony:

Those comments were made some time ago, but they were reprehensible then and they continue to be reprehensible now. They will continue to be reprehensible into the future. It is a travesty that Walsh has any kind of political career.

urbanelf - 2012-07-07

Ashley! Ashley! Oh, Ashley! Ashley!

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-07-07

According to a columnist, he says it 91 times.

He's a walking dead man. The thing about Walsh is, he's doing the things he has to do, but he's an idiot, so he's doing it badly. OF COURSE you need to denigrate your war hero opponent's heroism, but that requires some finesse, and this guy has none. If the interview isn't going bad, OF COURSE, you make it about the interviewer, but this guy can't really argue very well, so he just says "Ashleigh Ashleigh Ashleigh" for five minutes.

I just found out his district has been rezoned Democratic, The republicans who have to deal with this tool on a daily basis may hate him more than we do. I suspect that the Republican establishment has written him off, and they're not giving him the handling he needs to not piss all over himself with each new outing. He's going down, and he's not going to go down pretty.

Bleeding heart liberal that I am, I think I feel sorry for him.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-07-07

i.e. if the interview is going bad

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-07-07

I often cringe when someone can't manage to conduct themselves well during an interview, no matter their political stripe. In this case, his bumbling ineptitude distracts from just how awful a person he is and how wrong his positions are.

Jet Bin Fever - 2012-07-07

You know why she talks about losing both of her legs. Because if she didn't, people would be like "WHoaaa how the fuck did she lose both of her legs?" and assume she was found in some crackhouse shooting heroin in her vericose veins. People are stupid and this guy is going to crash and burn (but keep his legs).

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-07-07

Democrats have to play up their war heroism more than republicans, because they're supposed to be soft on terrorism, etc. Remember "John Kerry reporting for duty"?

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-07-07

Oh my god, this man is an incredible idiot clown.

Grandmaster Funk - 2012-07-07

Reminds me of Bobby Newport without any redeeming innocence.

Old_Zircon - 2012-07-07

I expected the other Joe Walsh for some reason (I blame jet lag).

He hasn't learned the "grin smugly whenever a valid point is made against you" technique that most Republican candidates have been taught so well in the past decade. His "repeat your opponent's name over and over" method doesn't work as well.

Grandmaster Funk - 2012-07-07

I was more irritated by the playground-level stuff of "Ohhh looks like you did sooo much research on her." "I guess you love her, why don't you marry her, Ashleigh?!"

dead_cat - 2012-07-08

Doing research on a news story is sooo lame

StanleyPain - 2012-07-07

So republicans are still pretending this isn't about their sociopathic hated of women, kiddo?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-07-07

It's all about the money. It's always all about the money. If anything ever appears to not be just about the money (racism, misogyny, fear) that's just a force that they're exploiting to get poor people to vote for them having more money.

memedumpster - 2012-07-08

"God, you're a fucking dumbass" needs to be a common statement uttered by news interviewers. The time has come.

joelkazoo - 2012-07-15

I'm torn. At first, I completely loathed him for being a repulsive douche, and now I kinda pity him because he's a genuinely stupid repulsive douche.
