John Holmes Motherfucker The most important ingredient is sodium bicarbonate, i.e. baking soda. I take generic store brand alka seltzer from time to time. There's nothing faster for heartburn than baking soda, and there is no faster way to get baking soda into your system than to drop a couple of premeasured effervescent tablets into a glass of water. No measuring, no stirring. Its the best known baking soda delivery system. The aspirin is pretty superfluous, except maybe for a hangover, the only situation I can think of that may combine heartburn with headaches.

... Unless you've got the opposite problem, where you aren't generating enough stomach acid, resulting in pretty much the same symptoms. My roommate goes through this; fortunately we discovered Betaine HCl pills, which make a huge difference.
