Give the guy a break, he was just upset about failing an important oral exam and having to drop out of his PhD program.

Why is it every time I play TF2 I only get kids trying to trade hats and guys who have to mention how drunk they are? I never run into weird stuff like this.
Caminante Nocturno - 2012-07-26
I can barely understand what this guy is saying. The real star of this video is the recorder's incredibly shitty playing. It doesn't matter what class they pick, they suck at it.

Seriously, who ever made this video sucks at TF2.

StanleyPain - 2012-07-26
They play about as good as me.

Female socialization fucking sucks. I wasn't even raised a girl but I still can't tell a guy he's being creepy and to fuck off without peppering it with "I'm sorry" and "thank you".

Thank you ever so much, homeless guy that has been following me since 16th st. Your extremely inappropriate interest in nothing about me other than where I live and if I have a boyfriend is genuinely appreciated as is your willingness to ride the H line to the end of the line and back just because I seem to have temporarily forgotten my stop. Yes, my address and apartment number, too. I am very sorry for the horrible inconvenience this is to you. I am clearly the asshole in the situation and for that I apologize. Oh, hey, a lady cop! I'm gonna see if she knows where I live.

It doesn't make a lick of a difference in getting the message across, mind you, but it's much harder to turn off than it has any right to be.

Yeah. Also not being female, I don't know if I should even comment, but female empowerment / feminism movement should spend more time on getting rid of the idea that a nice woman won't cause an issue. Far too much unwanted sexual attention / advances don't get shot down because the woman thinks it's better to just endure the problem until it goes away, which really just pays it forward to the next woman instead of stopping it in the first place.

January von Rodeo - 2012-07-26
Sometimes it's more of a safety issue than a pure politeness/socialized that way one.

People can be crazy unpredictable and sometimes shooting down those unwanted advances without bending over backwards to be gracious and circular about it is enough to change your status from "lady-object I wanna interfere with" to "bitch who spurned my charming, harmless interest and deserves what's coming to her" in some creepster brain.

It's about avoiding escalation, which risks retaliation. Sadly, sadly enough.

And stars. These stars have zero insight into their level of creepy intensity. They might cry.

Shoebox Joe - 2012-07-26
Gonna have to go with January von Rodeo on this one. The fellow exhibits a nice "Me against the world" when he's told that she left. And during their polite advising.

Shoebox Joe - 2012-07-26
Though on the other hand, it's the internet. I sort of think verbally curb stomping someone like that will give a nice contrast as to who is who.

Blue - 2012-07-27
Well, I am a woman, and I should probably mention that there's a lot more going on than just socialization. This shit is a lot scarier from a woman's perspective. A lot of these "unwanted advances" aren't about guys trying to get laid at all. They're about power.

When a guy catcalls, he's not trying to get laid. He's expressing sexual interest, but he's making it clear he doesn't want or need your consent. Many of these unwanted advances are just subtle versions of the same, they feel and are intended to feel like threats.

And don't think guys have our backs on this, either. Not by a fucking longshot. Look at Elevatorgate and all the vitriol directed at Rebecca Watson. That shit wasn't coming from anonymous internet posters. Richard Fucking Dawkins penned a response to her video that a fucking creationist would be embarrassed to have written.

Women don't want to be on the wrong end of that shit. Can you really blame them?

CornOnTheCabre - 2012-07-26
i think the word is "satire," if this is true.

Maru - 2012-07-26
I don't think it is though. What makes you say it's fake?
