I remember watching this in the summer of 1980. I was living in an old farmhouse in Pennsylvainia, a sort of a hippie commune. There was no running water, and I'd stay inside heating water with a woodstove to wash the dishes while everybody else worked the fields. i didn't like the sun. Luckily, there was elecricity, and a tv.
The Letterman daytime show was just amazingly weird. I remember the last show after the unsurprising cancellation. They used showgirls and Tchaikovsky to create an aura of fake class. It was hilarious.

What's weird is they went the whole show without making a rape joke. Maybe Dave was saving them for Ruth Carter Stapleton's appearance?
