It's not unexpected that this douchecanoe's apologies have been for using the "wrong word," singular. Unless there's a part of this interview that I haven't heard elsewhere, he hasn't apologized for claiming that women's reproductive systems can "shut the whole thing down" when raped.

The whole affair seems like "a little knowledge being a dangerous thing". There's actually a substantial academic literature on female orgasm being a mechanism for mate semen preference. It goes back at least to this article (cited by 156):
Human sperm competition: ejaculate manipulation by females and a function for the female orgasm

So it plausible someone might misread this sort of research in some popularization (from "rape is less likely to lead to pregnancy", to "rape doesn't cause pregnancy") and pass this reading on to Akin and other ignoramuses.
