The cinnamon challenge was an even more serious affair in those days. It lasted several days and marked a boy's passage to manhood.
very strange subtitles, anyone have any ideas why there were French? words in parenthesis?

Love this show, I should really figure out where I left off, cause I missed this scene.
This was in season three, episode seven, entitled "Unauthorized Cinnamon".

As to the subtitles, I can only infer that they expected their audience to have a reasonably good command of English -- seeing as English is the lingua franca these days, even in France -- but they thought the dialogue might be a bit difficult to understand (sort of like "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo") and some of the vocabulary out of the ordinary.

I'll remove the cinnamon

THIS time
In case you were wondering, there is no smoldering grudge between Jewel and Dan Dority, where they're actually mad about something else and arguing about cinnamon as a proxy ... this is genuinely about cinnamon and the authorization thereof.
