SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-09-29 What's really depressing is that this car chase stuff was seen as mostly a California phenomenon years ago, as the local news stations would always score ratings with it. Even back then, media analysts were starting to get alarmed at what kinds of actual stories these car chases were bumping off the air.
Then O.J.'s low-speed chase happened, the cable news networks went berserk, and now they broadcast this junk on nationwide channels. Even taken as just an event that's somehow 1-to-1 with the importance of what decisions a city council is passing down on sewer taxes, it's not even national news. It's no more worthy of reporting than the stuff that gets shown on COPS.
