Just the thing for the rampaging cyber-Wooly Mammoths that have been in my yard recently.
Billy the Poet
In what military situations is that remotely practical?
The Mothership
when you want to knock out a vehicle at a mile range and be undetected? That's what I thought all these high powered rifles were for.

Doomstein
Correct!

Camping

Oscar Wildcat
It's a home defense weapon, you liebrul muslimoid!

Hooker
Gonna be some dead fucking deer.
The Mothership
To give you an idea of the power of this weapon, note that he is prone and the force of the round knocks him back around 3-4 inches. While prone. Go to the website and read the disclaimer. do not shoot this rifle without the muzzle brake, you will rip your shoulder apart.
SixDigitDebt
Basically. You use these and some high density ammunition and you can crack engine blocks pretty good.
SixDigitDebt
Was supposed to be a reply to Billy the Poet. Damn my eyes.

CJH
so is there any info on the practicality of this weapon? obviously it's powerful, but the nuclear grenade was powerful too.
Comeuppance
Each one of these is custom made. I came across a forum post of a guy who had one made for him.

With the suppressor, the gun is just over 8 ft long and weighs 135lbs. The bullets are the size of a marital aid and cost roughly each. It has three times the range and power of a Barrett, coming in at 5000 yards, or 2.84 miles.

It's a very silly gun.

Doomstein
They're designed for disabling vehicles, and other heavier assets. Not so much for shooting people. Though it's marketed as being useful for 'Big Game Hunting'

The US mint bought a few of these suckers to protect the mint buildings.

The FBI evaluated some, though I don't know if they ever put in an order. I never bothered to check.

Comeuppance
Maybe a couple dozen of these rifles will ever be used in a legitimate combat situation.

All of the rest will be rendered inoperable due to a heavy coating of dried semen.
Riskbreaker
Yay?

I know all about these things.

A few years ago I was looking for a different job, and was throwing around the idea of learning a trade instead of rotting away in a government call center, maybe training to be a gunsmith or working in a machine shop. I had heard through the grapevine that these people, Anzio Ironworks, had their production locally in the Tampa Bay area. (Specifically a podunk town called Lacoochee.) And that they'd hire unskilled labor and train them.

So I get the address, and head on down to talk to the guys about getting a job. When I get there, I was kind of dismayed to find that the place was in this sketchy little unmarked barn-like building, next to a church and a school, and that hardly anyone seemed to be there.

I knocked on the door and asked to talk to the fella in charge to see if they were taking anyone on, and when the supervisor guy came to the door he seemed nervous. Almost on the verge of panic. He was polite though and told me there weren't any jobs available at that time, they had a full crew, and it was a small operation, ect, ect...

So I was pretty bummed out, and drove home. Not thinking too much of it in the next few days, when suddenly I get a visit from the State Fire Marshal's office. Apparently the day I had come to look for employment, someone torched the place, and stole several of those sniper rifles. And they were wondering if Ol' Doomstein here had anything to do with it.

So I gave my statement, and that seemed to be good enough for the investigators. It turns out the place had been under investigation for quite some time, and the owners have been operating through a number of shell companies. (which allowed them to manufacture this weaponry so close to a school). What's embarassing is that Anzio had managed to get several limited production contracts and evaluations from both the military and several government agencies, despite being so sketchy.

I believe the qualifications for being considered for a US weapons contract are;

1) Do you make a rediculous weapon that might be considered a war crime if used in a 'real war'?

2) Are you based in 'Hmurica?

Doomstein
Ah, the good ol' "Buy American Act"

Jet Bin Fever
That adds a necessary dimension to this story. I don't think reliable manufacturers could produce such an atrocious weapon.

Meerkat
By the time that guy has gotten down and done his aiming and counting thing I would have run 100 yds and stabbed him in the face.
pineapplejuicer
No dude it's 21 feet, remember? Just hangin out.

But my stars are for doomsteins story

memedumpster
By the time it fires, you're expecting a plasma bolt or a purple laser, so the actual shot is like an old man jacking off.
Jet Bin Fever
This looks like something a Super Mutant would carry in Fallout.
