These people are absolutely incorrect. I hate self-righteous Christians and fundies in general, but I super-hate "New Testament" Christians who want to pretend that the coming of Jesus somehow altered the laws of the Old Testament and that Christians no longer need to concern themselves with it. "Oh, it's just old Judaic law..nothing to do with us."
Jesus very specifically points out to his apostles that just because he's offering a new covenant from God doesn't mean you get to re-interpret his laws and pretend he's a new age hippie from Pepperland. "Not a jot", as the Biblical quote goes, will be changed.

they'reforyou - 2012-10-08 Both of you are laughably incorrect. No Jew ever expected a Gentile to observe any element of the covenant between the Jews and God. Jews thought they were special, and they upheld the covenant because they weren't Gentile vermin. Early disciples (think Paul and Peter) argued over whether or not Gentiles who wanted to follow Christ's teachings were obligated to first become Jewish.
