Ah! Good old-fashioned ghost stories. What was the name of the story by the same author where the dude accidentally summoned a ghost that tried to climb into his bed at night?
Whistle and I'll Come To You the adaptation of which I submitted not long ago and is linked from the M.R. James tag.
In the original story by James, the man who finds the crown was just an amateur archeologist who'd stumbled across it and enlists the narrator's help in putting it back, but that turns out to do no good.
These BBC adaptations are great. Especially the use of actually creepy, desolate locations.
