Disappointingly sane.
Jeriko-1 - 2012-11-07
No it wasn't. Just the way he addressed the President and his family disturbed the shit out of me.

Valvados - 2012-11-07
Amen. Setting the new record for the most backhanded, insincere concession speech of the modern era: Mitt Romney, ladies and gents.

Valvados - 2012-11-07
Never one to miss a chance for a dig at gay rights either.

Old_Zircon - 2012-11-07
I'll watch it again when it's not 2:30 in the morning.

BACKSTAGE:

"FUCK! FUUUUUUUUUCK!!! GOD-MOTHER-FUCKING-SHIT SYPHILIS ROTTEN CLIT FUUUUUUUUUUUCK! (Smashes, throws, destroys shit, accidentally hits daughter in the face with a flying object, Ann shields her.)"

"Shall I fetch your private prototype jet, sir?"

"... Yes... fetch the jet. Kids... DON'T FUCKING LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT, ANN... kids, we're goin on a trip. Would you like to go on a trap with daddy?"

(Terrified silence.)

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2012-11-08
"But I don't want to go to Honduras!"

"We'll all go. It will be good for us. AS A MOTHERFUCKING FAMILY! NOT A FIRST FAMILY LIKE GOD WANTED BUT A MORMON SHITEATING GRIN WEARING FAMILY SO SUCK IT UP WE'RE GOING TO MOTHERFUCKING HONDURAS AND WE ARE GOING TO HAVE THE FUCKING TIME OF OUR LIVES!"

Valvados - 2012-11-09

You built this, Mitt.

You built this, Mitty.
You built this, Mitty, on schlock and lol.

Hooker - 2012-11-07
I find it hilarious that McCain, who thrust Sarah Palin into the spotlight and accused Obama of consorting with terrorists, showed more humanity in his 2008 concession speech than Mitt Romney has shown in his entire life.
Cena_mark - 2012-11-07
McCain is a man of honor. He may have temporarily changed his colors for the 2008 election to appeal to those on the far right, but he is still more of a man than most.

Oh well, back to Bain to outsource more jobs and maybe build another elevator for your cars.

Life is so hard.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-11-07
This man ran the worst campaign I've ever seen. Devoting a whole night of the convention to taking an innocuous obama quote out of context ("We built that.") is worse than cynical. To anyone who is not consumed with Obamahate, and is willing to take 40 seconds to look up the actual quote on Google, it makes the Republicans look like they didn't have any real issues to run on. I still don't know what Romney ran on, other than lower taxes for rich people, and being a white guy.
SolRo - 2012-11-07
he also ran on being rich.

Vaidency - 2012-11-07
As far as I can tell, Romney basically ran on the premise that he had already achieved everything else there was to do in life, and a great capstone would be winning the presidency.

He changed his positions whenever it suited his audience, evaded most questions about policy specifics, borrowed talking points and advisers from the last two Republican candidates and basically just tried to blur his way into the Oval Office on a platform of narcissistic self-glorification.

We've seen candidates run campaigns before that were essentially just masturbatory exercises (Right, Newt?) but Romney's the first guy to blow a billion dollars doing it as the candidate of a major party.

Xenocide - 2012-11-07
After SEVEN FUCKING YEARS of campaigning, no one still has any idea what the hell Mitt Romney ever stood for, aside from "Mitt Romney wants his own presidential library."

The God of Biscuits - 2012-11-07
What's scary is that he still got >48% of the vote

Robin Kestrel - 2012-11-07
^ What Vaidency said.

fourthguy - 2012-11-07
"I ran for office because I'm concerned about America:" Gotta get one last lie in at the end of the campaign there.

'I Want To Congratulate The President,' Romney Says In 240,000th And Final Lie Of Campaign

Disappointed that a giant Vaudeville hook didn't yank him off the stage.
Rodents of Unusual Size - 2012-11-07
The best thing about this election is the sheer amount of money corporations put into getting Romney elected and seeing it all go down the toilet.
Bort - 2012-11-07
Yeah, I'm pleasantly pleased at how little impact Citizens United had. I imagine it would have had more impact, except for three things:

1) It's probably most effective in races where voters don't have strong opinions about either candidate. If they already love or hate at least one of them, Citizens United can't buy enough ads to change peoples' minds.

2) Many thousands of private citizens reached deep into their pockets to counter the Adelsons. I did and I bet a lot of other people here did too.

3) The E-Mails. Dear God, the E-Mails asking for contributions. They were effective in their unrelentingness, I have to give them that, but I won't miss them.

Quad9Damage - 2012-11-07
I'm honestly not sure how they got my e-mail address, but the DCC bombarded me with mail throughout this campaign asking for donations to counter the latest Super PAC or attack ad blitz. "We need $ 10 million by midnight or we're all fucked!"

I chipped in a $ 30 donation once, feeling like I needed to contribute if I wanted to keep the evangelicals out of my bedroom. But the requests for donations continued pouring in, and I ignored them.

I'm glad the grassroots efforts have paid off, though. Seeing that Scrooge bin of pro-Romney money disappear down a wormhole makes me smile.

EvilHomer - 2012-11-07
Who?
Pillager - 2012-11-07
What now GOP?

That fat ball of rage Chris Christie?

Paul "The Dishwasher" Ryan? Santorum? Jindal?

You scraped the bottom of the barrel with Romney, I guess in '16 we'll see what's under the barrel.
Koda Maja - 2012-11-07
Jon Huntsman would be a good choice, in my opinion. Though he stepped on some republican toes this election.

spikestoyiu - 2012-11-07
Jon Huntsman is pretty great, as far as Republican Mormons go, so I doubt we'll be seeing much of him. Jindal is pretty much their version of Obama, so we'll probably see him next.

fourthguy - 2012-11-07
Jon Huntsman? Are you kidding me? It's gonna be Rubio. He's young, he's charismatic, he's Catholic and Hispanic. He can appeal to moderates. Mark my words. In 2016 he's gonna jump in and try to save the Republican party by making up for the angry white guy shortage.

KillerGazebo - 2012-11-07
Cain/Colbert 2016.

Alliterative tickets have only failed once.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2012-11-08
If Jindal runs for president I will be happier than hell, because it means a few years of a campaign that will look like a Parks and Rec episode.

Nikon - 2012-11-07
Turns out we like being able to fire people too, Mitt.
Cherry Pop Culture - 2012-11-07
How in the living fuck does this douche-canoe win 48% of the votes in this country? Daddy and I got into it about my observation of Romney being a backwards, ignorant, silver spoon chewing motherfucker that should eat a shotgun. I guess some live by being or thinking they are the one percent in this world :/.
Jet Bin Fever - 2012-11-07
Amazing that he got so close. But, thankfully close didn't cut it.
