The whole reason Henson produced The Muppet Show was to appeal to and entertain adults because he was afraid the popularity of Sesame Street was making him appear to be a "childrens entertainer" and the Muppets typecast as "for kids" and he didn't want to be seen like that. In fact, the pilot episode was titled "Sex and Violence" which is full of a bunch of jokes about the "seven deadly sins" and Kermit propositioning a woman by offering her a job on "an educational show for kids" har har.

That makes it even more awesome.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-11-20 I always found this heartwarming, melancholy, and even a little creepy, as with all the more experimental/poignant Muppet sketches.
Of course, I've also read/seen enough Twilight Zone-ish "Fountain of Youth" stories to make me apprehensive of a twist ending, anyway.

Jet Bin Fever - 2012-11-20 Such a wonderful and intelligent show. I hadn't seen this one yet, thanks.
