thing to remember about Teahupoo is: the reason the waves explode through the tube like that is because it's a reef break, meaning there is an extremely shallow coral reef about 20-40 inches beneath the waters surface. Wiping out is serious business there.
What what fedex says about the waves. Teahupoo breaks just like Pipeline. Although, iirc the rise in the sea floor at Teahupoo is much more severe than pipe, i.e., the water goes from deeper to shallower in a shorter distance, and that's why Teahupoo's break is so thick... brah.
