Maybe I'm getting old. For 90% of the shots I couldn't tell who was who.

I think the movies were made specifically for theaters, there's so much detail in every frame that it's hard watch on a regular sized screen. Doesn't help that the light level is generally too low for normal viewing either.

They added a whole new character to eva in the remake? I looked her up after watching this clip, it's kind of weird how she looks more similar to more recent gainax work instead of being more consistent with the character design of the original series. I may have to watch this at some point if they don't fuck up the ending for the third time.

I went and found this scene from the Japanese version to compare and I agree that the English voice actors do a better job. They also had the sense to not just do a literal translation that sounds awkward in English.

Is that normal for anime these days?
