Ditto.

NEW Red Dwarf? What the hell, how do I not find out about this until now?

Paracelsus - 2012-12-02

Good, I'm not the only one.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2012-12-02

I love me some Jesus and I love me some Red Dwarf. Except I don't really love Jesus.

cognitivedissonance - 2012-12-02

The only thing I hate more than "Game of Thrones" people is "Red Dwarf" people.

SolRo - 2012-12-02

Guuuuuys! We're not cool enough for cog!

Cena_mark - 2012-12-02

Even I like Red Dwarf. You're a dork.

EvilHomer - 2012-12-02

:(

chairsforcheap - 2012-12-02

I really don't get the appeal of red dwarf... I have nothing against you people but I really don't get it. I like game for thrones.

Personally I thought the show was pretty good until Grant and Naylor split (because Grant got sick of the show and wanted more to his name than a single series), and then it just kind of went off the rails.

Kabbage - 2012-12-02

Yeah, agreed. The RD book Grant wrote, Better Than Life, was probably the most spot-on Red Dwarf-related thing I've come across.

I guess I like Dwarf mainly for the concept, and cast. Cat has rigidly remained a one-note joke for ten seasons, somehow, so that's never been particularly great, but I like Lister as a hero, and when Rimmer works well, it's uniquely britishily funny.

When it comes together, Red Dwarf is uniquely funny, I guess is the appeal. I can't really think of anything similar in terms of science fiction comedy that is close to as light-hearted.

cognitivedissonance - 2012-12-02

To paraphrase Baleen, "poke".

baleen - 2012-12-02

pokey poke pokepokepoke

For me Red Dwarf belongs exclusively to my childhood. I really do get irritated by grown men who enjoy this show on a more than euphoric level. It's the same with people that think it's funny to go SPAM! SPAM! SPAM! SPAM! SPAM! when they see Spam in the grocery store or get spam in their inbox. These people are almost entirely confined to the IT and software development departments of any company.

I think enjoying Red Dwarf depends on when and how you were exposed to it. My local PBS ran marathons of this (and Dr.Who) in the late 90's. I finally decided to see what all the hub-bub was about and watched one of the marathons, with the first episode being the Emohawk one where Lister gets married to space gorillas. If you didn't laugh the first time you saw the scene with the sight gag of Lister lecturing Cat to stay on his toes after picking up his hat out of the bushes, you have no right to tell anyone on POETV what is or is not funny.

boner - 2012-12-03

I can still watch the first five seasons of this show and laugh, at least. After that forget it.

cognitivedissonance - 2012-12-03

I didn't say I hated "Red Dwarf", I said I hated "Red Dwarf" *people*. The whole pimply lot of you.

SolRo - 2012-12-03

Guuuuuys! We're not cool enough for cog!

Quickly, get your fedoras!

Dread Pirate Roberts - 2012-12-02

I like how all the characters - including the android - have put on 20-50lbs. Still funny though.
