No, this wasn't "the next Simpsons" the producers were looking for, either.

I remember NBC giving this turd tons of promotion and then quietly panicking when it began to drop in the ratings. There was even a smacks-of-desperation guest appearance by the Donkey from Shrek late in the season.

Cost per episode: 1.6 million.
WORTH IT!

The second suggestion you get, when Googling this is "Father Of The Pride Vore". I'm not fucking kidding.

Naturally, the show stars only white lions, because God forbid networks give colored lions opportunities in prime time.

The only thing Father of the Pride is successful at is making me appreciate God, the Devil, and Bob more. I mean, I didn't like GtD&B, but at least that show had some ambition.

Is...is that John Goodman?

American Standard - 2012-12-27
Released, in a catastrophe of unavoidable bad timing, soon after Roy Horn was nearly mauled to death by a white tiger during a Vegas show.
Fun fact: To this day, Siegfried and Roy claim the tiger was either being playful or trying to help Roy. That's because, if they just fucking admit the thing was trying to kill him (it was), it would have to be destroyed.

This show was awful and I can't imagine what the .6 million per episode went to, unless that's including the voice actors' salaries.
|
snothouse - 2012-12-27 If wiki is telling the truth, each episode took 9 MONTHS to make.
|
dairyqueenlatifah - 2012-12-28 I assume 8.5 of each aforementioned nine weeks were spent snorting coke off a Vegas hooker's ass, followed by the remaining time actually being used to make the episode.
That would explain where the show's premise, and it's being greenlit, happened from as well.

When this was on I must have completely rejected that it existed, because I don't remember it.

Reminds me of UPN's attempt at a "animated family sitcom."
It was a royal turd.

Hey, Father of the Pride! When you get to Hell, say 'hi' to Fish Police for me!

themilkshark - 2012-12-28 "Wait 'Til Your Father Gets Home" was timely and topical for the 70's, wasn't it?

I don't get it. I wish my mind could make sense of it.

I had never heard of this until now.

GoneGirl - 2012-12-29
I could care less about the show, but I'd love a full mp3 of Goodman singing "Viva Las Vegas."
