Its not like cutting the scene out would detriment the story or the viewer's understanding of this godawful mess.

They could have just pixelated them, but hardly anyone knows that there are places where women take their clothes off for money. Imagine if word got out? Wait no DON'T IMAGINE JESUS CHRIST NO!

1995? This was probably done on Matador one of the first 2d digital effects programs. It was command line and horrible but revolutionary.
This was rotoscoped, and rotoscoped very badly: not by professional 2d animators who know how to keyframe. Alot of floppy interpolation. So this probably was done very quickly and cheaply. But this is showgirls, so who knows. Maybe it took a year and cost a squillion dollars. The point is it looks horrible.
I love it.

Man-hours? The people who did this were not men. Or women. Or people.

Why climb the mountain?
Because it's there.

This doesn't really compromise the artistic integrity of the work. It's no Michelangelo's "Last Judgment," or anything.
|
cognitivedissonance - 2013-01-02 It's nothing short of our epoch's Stonehenge. A work of singular, mysterious beauty, echoing through the ages with wordless wisdom.

-2 because there weren't cleaned up pole dancing scenes.

Here's a pretty extensive review of the TV version (with some NSFW comparison screenshots):

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-02 You did notice that it includes a download of the entire TV edit, right?

I've never seen this. Is it a remake of Girl in Gold Boots?

Oh, Kyle MacLachlan.
You could have done anything after Twin Peaks.
You chose to do this and Flintstones.
You forced Twin Peaks into the awful season 2 "Audrey + Billy Zane" subplot because you refused to have your character get together with her due to standards.
and then you did this.

Logo aired this twelve times in a row, as its entire "24 Hour Salute to Great American Cinema."
I'm just saying, if Logo wants to air "tongue-in-cheek" camp, MGM has more in its library than just Showgirls. Break out The Apple, or Can't Stop the Music, or something.
|
Old_Zircon - 2013-01-03 Can't Stop the Music is incredible.
