Not that I expect a rational explanation or anything, but weren't the previous installments of this game about magic emo-goths that had guns with blades on the end, fighting demons in a medieval world where they also wore headphones?
It seemed ludicrous even by anime standards, but at least you could laugh at it.

FABIO - 2013-01-20 DMC4 was weird in that all of Nero's portions were like a bad joke of gameplay and anime cliches. Once you got to Dante's portions it went right back to self-aware, funny, over the top shit that was fun to play.
The problem was that Nero was HALF THE GAME.

RocketBlender - 2013-01-20 Fabio's nailed it. Half of DMC4 was fun as can be.
What I really don't get about the series is the ammount of fan rage. It's not like the series was sacred to begin with. DMC wasn't bad by any means, but good luck trying to go back and play it, there's not even a dodge button. DMC2 sucked by everyone's standards as well.

Right before this, there is a boss fight wherein you have to knock the woman out of the giant fetus and attack her.
It is--somehow, amazingly--even worse and more stupid than it sounds.

ok, taken out of context your probably wondering "what the hell" but in the context of the story its pretty much a " goddamnit why'd you do that for?" sort of moment and isn't really played up for some sort of shock value "omgee he aborted the kid with a gun lulz!!" so much as its a set up to some other stuff later on involving Virgil.
That said I had fun with this game, sure at times its trying a lil hard with the edgyness (some "fucks" and "motherfuckers" that stuck out in odd ways) dialogue wise, but for the most part its infinitely more coherent storyline wise than the first DMC (which i liked/still liked as it was my first game for the ps2) and the voice acting is actually very good (Mundus in particular reminded me of Michael Rooker in a way even thought they sound nothing alike in game). Gameplay wise it was fun as I enjoyed the combat system alot, which I can't say I have enjoyed hack and slash game like this since...well probably the first one, go fig.
