Dayum!

I always get the vibe from Rand Paul that he "corrected" his teacher constantly in the fourth grade. Goddamn that is some smarm. And I hate almost everyone in the government, including him.
Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-01-25
also how is this a worse tragedy than natural disasters or shootings or attacks where more than four people died? This is such a typical Randian idea, that the lives of diplomats and people in high positions are worth far more than other human beings?

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-01-25
That last one should not have been phrased in the form of a question.

fatatty - 2013-01-25
Yeah I always found it interesting that all the reports say "The attackers killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans". I've never heard the other 3 named or identified or put on any sort of equal footing with the ambassador.

Some people die and it's a tragedy, and sometimes it's just other people dying.

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-25
It's worse because Democrats.

DriverStabby - 2013-01-25
His fucking 4th grade teacher should have gotten it together.

I guess what disgusts me about this Benghazi SCANDAL is that it's about some dead Americans. None of these people, for a single minute, would ever think about bringing up the thousands of military suicides or the thousands of dead troops. That's just part of war. Clearly this is incompetence... Not stopping 9-11, not incompetence... I am sure Hilary Clinton didn't read the memo or whatever, but honestly, the teary-eyed hypocrisy of it all is sure to push Americans to not give a shit.
Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-01-25
Yes, amazingly no one in DC is talking about the fact that the suicides in the army now outweigh the amount of people actually being killed in the war.

There is so much incompetence to hate here. Rand Paul has some amazing amounts of righteous indignation for someone who sided with BP after the oil spill.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-01-25
Absolutely, I couldn't say it better.

Void 71 - 2013-01-25
It's the topical issue of the moment. It'll pass, as they always do, but not without some bad political theater.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-01-25
Hey, Rand also brought up the important waste of 0K to send Indian-American comedians to India on a goodwill mission, just like we've done since the 1960's.

I mean, that's worth his salary, our time, and everything, right?

fatatty - 2013-01-25
They really really really want Obama to be Carter. He's not, he's more of a socially liberal George HW Bush. They still think this scandal will bring him down, but they don't know no one cares because they exist in the beltway bubble. The countless drone deaths are much more of a scandal but of course Republicans want more drone strikes, not less.

And of course talking about the military suicides can't happen because then we'd need to mention we should be spending more money on mental healthcare for our veterans, and maybe mention that war is horrible and we need to stop.

StanleyPain - 2013-01-25
Remember, folks, if you're a Democrat and you bring up dead soldiers or people dead from gun violence, you're exploiting the dead. But when, as a Republican, you make your whole political career on feigned outrage over 9/11, military deaths, abortions etc, that's totally not the same thing.
SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-01-25
Funny, that. Soldier deaths were the last thing the Republicans wanted to talk about during the whole War on Terror debacle. Not to mention Condi Rice had many deaths due to terrorism reclassified as accidents or just about any other category so nobody could point out how terrorism had increased after Bush's bullshit wars got going.

The whole hearing was horrible and made me slightly more inclined to support violent revolution. There was zero interest in actually finding anything out, determining what went wrong, how to fix it in the future, etc., just people making stupid little speeches.
DriverStabby - 2013-01-25
Agreed.
