When I lived in the bay area, we generally kept a good distance from people who had just moved across the country to spread their wings. Fortunately, that "LIFE IS AWESOME!" shine doesn't last long and they'd either move back to their small towns or come to terms with the fact that nobody really wants them there, after which we were happy to have them.
