I recommend giving this one complete and uninterrupted viewing.
It's one of the rare movies with intellectual and poetic ambitions that doesn't fail itself. It stands up to scrutiny and multiple viewings.
It starts with a cinematic freak-out that lasts a few minutes and probably won't make sense until a second or third viewing, but scene by scene it's relatively normal storytelling.
[It appears that this version is 79 minutes instead of 83 because it was transferred from NTSC to PAL and suffers from a 4% speed-up.
This version is not one of the heavily bowdlerized versions.]
This was pretty intense in places and the artsy bits weren't cheesy, even if they were a bit over the top. It's a well done story with epileptic window dressing.
