How does she manage all those costume changes?
Sanest Man Alive
Bah, she's just cycling through her dresspheres for the grid bonuses.
POETV is destroying me. You've turned me into a liberal, an MLP fan, and I like Vocaloid music.
I'm still a badass ex-bouncer who watches wrestling.
Looks lip-synced to me.

I feel so lame after exposing my brain to this. I've seen this shit before, but never for so long at one time. I can't believe people listen to this stuff.
Granted, in the two or three songs where it blends well (IE: 1:14:27, 0:55:45), it isn't too bad. I mean, I still prefer Capsule or any legit band with a real vocalist (even heavily vocoded ones) over these things any day. But, maybe in 10 years when they get the tech better it'll be a lot of fun.
That said, I still won't ever pay to see a hologram.
I'd pay to see Hologram Eazy-E in concert.
Jet Bin Fever
Someone should get on that, you're right. They won't even need a very big screen for him.
Jet Bin Fever
I guess its a valid point. However, there's a big difference between live theater and recorded theater. The engagement of the audience is very different. There's something very powerful about live theater that doesn't convert to film. I just don't see a recorded computer character ever being able to get the audience going like a real flesh and blood human being can.
The music would suck at least as much with a live singer.

Ugh. Even gorillaz made me cringe when they did this, but the music and waste of effort is unforgivable

I really like this, and I'm fascinated by the concept, as well as the technology. But I'd just like everyone to know that my "can't stop watching this" phase was over pretty quick.
hit it with your rhythm sticks!

Can someone explain to me the following
1) Are they seriously wielding glow sticks in the form of a leek? Seriously, it is a good thing that singer is a hologram. I wouldn't wish that kind of horror on any real person.
2) Should I actually watch this? I mean, I nodded off and was annoyed the shit out of the first few seconds. I skipped a few minutes in to the actual singing, but the synth guitar mixed with the vocaloid made me too angry keep going. I hope every one in that room catches mono from the single person who actually managed to get to third base.
3) KISS was horrendous, but it never took it's popularity due to one in-joke meme. KISS is ten times better than this could ever be. Fuck you internet, thanks for managing to make cultural suicide a reality. This shit is worse than that toddler that was made to sing a hip pop song. Mainly due to the fact that any one who realises that the singer is actually 4 years old will under stand that there isn't much beef in the lyrics, unlike every poor smelly, fat bastard who'll clamor onto this Hatsune Miku thinking deep thoughts about video game quotes and closed captioned lyrics from their favorite J-Pop adventure series.
We are on a cultural land slide people. Let's just hope that any one with a sense of dignity will out cast every "internet jockey" like the town whore does to her entire orphanage of kids.
Shoot first, ask questions later.
Sure thing, sport!
1. You're a coward.
2. No, because you're a coward.
3. You're a pretentious coward.
Welcome to the future, bitch!
A four year old can comphrehend life isn't fair with out thinking that sided on war or peace. >:(
This makes it ten times better with out me actually looking at what ever pop culture lyrics, ripped from the "Young Heart Go Fight! War is never answer!" theme song, that could actually be used in these songs.

You understand that on this website if you strongly disagree with something you vote it 4 or 5 stars. Right?

The Idol Singer Equation makes much more sense and works so much better when you remove the human being from it.
Oh, so now we're on to faceless, meaningless idols? That concept has existed long before this even came out and its name was Jesus.
A dig against organized religion AND pop culture in one comment?!
Look out, everyone! Shoebox Joe has watched one too many episodes of South Park, and how he's full of biting commentary!
Try comparing elections to American Idol, that'll push everyone out of their comfort zones!
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!
Hmm, let's see.
Long drawn out public display to watch finalists lead slightly interesting careers that fall out of the spot light in seconds.
All parties are absolute shit.
Politics is often hailed as popular in a shallow way much the same as pop culture.
Parties are often toting popular phrases or classic demeanors beind them.
Parties often lie to themselves or each other or to everyone.
Parties often drag gimmicks and ground them into the dirt.
There are wack jobs usually found in both examples.
Well fuck me up the ass, Caminante Nocturno, those two things are just equally meaningless and you are right they are meaningless to attack cause they can be enjoyable.
I forgive you and this Hatsune Miku and will watch tons of anime from now on.
Hatsune Miku is far more meaningful than anyother pop singer. Her music is quite good and a lot of it is created by fans. Its far more democratic than the U.S. Pop world.
|Shoebox Joe |
They should've just used the shaved polar bear.
The main difference between Vocaloid and most pop stars is that at least Vocaloid is honest about the source of the singing.

I know you guys are too cool to know this, but the tag "best of both worlds" is a reference to Hannah Montana. Check out Miley Cyrus these days. I think it's an unambiguously good thing that Hatsune isn't going to wind up like that. It makes the show more enjoyable to watch than Miley's although Miley is a better singer. Idol worship is a fucked up thing to do to a kid. It fucks her up. There's a kind of purity to Hatsune Miku that is part of the appeal.
I don't think this is the wave of the future. Remember Max Headroom? Notice how every talking head on TV today is not Max Headroom. It's not going to take over music, and I don't think that this will translate into other genres as well as teeny j-pop. There won't be holograms performing the blues any time soon.
guess what guys, you thought there wasn't a way i could make this video creepy too? well guess again suckers! - JHM
Hatsune is better than Miley.
That's like saying vomit tastes better than diarrhea.
Nobody listens or produces jazz music anymore, anyway. This is like calling computers a dead-end because they can't be easily carried by the Pony Express.

I looked up creepy, here's what I got:
1. Of or producing a sensation of uneasiness or fear, as of things crawling on one's skin: a creepy feeling; a creepy story.
2. Annoyingly unpleasant; repulsive: the creepy kids next door.
So it's basically aesthetic. If anybody thinks I'm creepy, I'm okay with that. In fact, if I can produce a sensation of unease or fear in CJH, I think that's actually kind of awesome. It's certainly not my problem.
I learned about Hatsune Miku from Boxxy, when she dressed up as Hatsune Miku for Halloween. I wasn't going to mention that, but I know that whenever I mention Boxxy, it gives CJH the vapors, and I can't resist. I love this video, because it's political. Its actually kind of awkward and unconvincing compared to the earlier Boxxy videos, but I love that Catie has something to say.
I didn't mention Jazz; I mentioned the blues. I've heard that jazz is still vital and alive, but I don't know anything about that. The blues, on the other hand, is in our DNA, they're never that far away.
Miley Cyrus is the closest thing I can think of to a human equivalent of Hatsune Miku. A couple of years ago, I saw a concert on Hulu that I liked, and I was kind of into her for a while, but then she went all Lindsey Lohan on everybody. I hope she recovers. She's a good singer, and a bit of throwback. I thnk it's great that she doesn't try to make her live shows sound like the videos. Here's the show that I saw Hulu, uploaded to youtube. I'm posting it here for the sake of contrast. Again, it's the human version.
I know a lot of you guys don't like pop music. I used to hate it, but then I got old and decided, fuck it, what have I got to prove?
Riskbreaker, I respect and honor your indifference. Personally, I'm fascinated by this video that I discovered about 24 hours ago, but I have a hard time imagining that I'll be into it a month or two from now.
One thing I find myself wondering is if Japan has real teenage girls who are popstars. I've always thought of Japan as pretty sexist and patriarchal, and I wonder if there's something about the cgi that makes this kind of feminine icon possible. The japanese fans refer to her as " a goddess". If she was a person, that would be a lot more fucked up.
Miku has already branched into other genres. She probably puts out more trance than any other artist, while on the darker side there is a ton of Miku goth rock and death metal. You can also find Miku jazz, folk, dubstep, classical, ska-punk, showtunes, dance, and a lot of stuff I wouldn't know how to classify. In December she performed in her own opera, and a week later was a feature soloist with the Japan Philharmonic.
Obviously her music isn't for everyone, but there is a lot of different music for a lot of different tastes. And there is a lot of music to pick from - well over 50,000 original Miku songs - the advantage of being digital and massively crowd-sourced.
You can diss if her you want, but the fact is Miku provides the opportunity for thousands of indie musicians and composers to reach a large international audience. Write a popular Miku song and you can potentially get millions of views, sell tens of thousands of copies, get your song included in SEGA's franchise of Miku games (for which you get royalties), and even end up performing on stage at one of her concerts (notice the extra musician who shows up for one song - that's the person who wrote it!)
I can't wait to see what RandomMikuFan has to say about all of the other videos on this site.
I don't hate this, i just don't care one bit about it. Is one of those things from Japan i really can't understand why it's remotely popular. It's a fucking hologram, and it sounds pretty fucking lame.
Cam, stop embarrassing yourself. This is a really dumb thing to defend.
Man, I'm not going to take that kind of criticism from someone who's probably jerked off on a gun.
