If PoeTV grew legs and started to walk around, it would prolly look something like this.
I saw this in the theater and was greatly entertained. You should get over your francophobia and see it ROUS, it has something for everyone.
Mr. Shit was the best part of this movie. On the whole I thought the movie was ponderous with brief flashes of uncanny brilliance.

Not having a studio to answer to can be both a good and a bad thing: this film demonstrates why both of these things is true.

Just saw this Carax film a while ago and loved it. He's one of my new favorites. It's inexplicable at first, but if you watch the whole thing, it really is a tribute to actors and what they have to go through.
re: the 'symbolism i think' tag. Would you say an apple symbolizes an apple?
I really can't in good conscious give anything in this movie away. But I is this the scene where he does the thing and then goes to that place? Because OMG that place where he does that thing is just wow.

Oh, also, you'll need to have a movie buddy to watch this movie. It's one of those films that require it.
Mr Merde is awesome...he is actually also in an earlier movie called "Tokyo", where 3 french directors each do a weird story about Tokyo. You can watch the entire Merde chapter of that movie on this vimeo link: http://vimeo.com/5851763
